I use it for my in ground garden but not in my container garden. I do 'refresh' the soil in my containers with a 'soil activator" that contains a range of microbes. i have started using Happy Frog or Ocean Forest soil from hydroponics stores (cheaper than big box or online) as my container garden soil as it already has a balanced range of microbes. **Q: With only a small portion of auto flower soil and some perlite, my tester showed 3.1ph for the container of coir. I thought this was ph neutral?** A: Coconut coir normally has a PH between 5.2 and 6.8 meaning it is slightly acidic. 3.1 PH is roughly equivalent to somewhere between Lemon and orange juice. I would first suspect the meter , in particular if is a few years old. I have used one of those $20 dollar double test meters and never quite trusted it . Litmus paper gives crude readings that are more trustworthy. Test your meter against some known quantities such as distilled water ( 7 ) Vinegar ( 2 to 3 ) and then again something like ammonia ( 11.6 ) or Bleach ( 11 +/- ) . Easy to mix up. I have found that it's very good for starting seeds. Leaves the seeds moist as it drains well. I also layer my mix with the top four inches plain. Then below that, I have worm castings and some small foam beads. Also add time relese general fertilizer pellets. Having big plants, indoors, under LED lights.
