I currently lift weights, so I am always looking for a challenge.** A: Bars for resistance bands and 16 different positions so between those settings and how much you weigh. That is how the resistance is calculated. It's not a straight up do you have wait for either five pounds 10 pounds 200 pounds whatever it's not not calculated like that. Here's an example of how this product works. if you weigh 175 lbs and have all 4 bands engaged that is 53.6 pounds of resistance, in the lowest height adjustment. When you put that in the highest highte adjustment now you have a 163.1 pounds of resistance. if you weigh less you have less resistance, if you weigh more your resistance is more, because your moving your own weight also. It comes with a whole chart that you can go by to set up what you want for resistance. It's a whole different exercise than weight lifting. This machine is really Pilates with resistance you get better workout then just plain Pilates on a mat. Tldr: You won't feel like you're even working hard, and yet you get incredible results. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good But Off to a Not-So-Great Start *by T***S on 12 December 2016* Since becoming a parent I have not had time to return to the things I love doing to keep in shape; as an entrepreneur I can't burn the midnight oil like I used to because I have my toddler to take care of in the morning. Pilates reformer classes is one of those things. I decided to get this machine based on the great reviews and I'm glad I listened. It is a pretty sturdy yet mobile machine that doesn't take up too much space in my living room. It's easy to set up and to break down which is a real pleasure. And the accompanying DVDs are a nice touch for getting started right away, which I did. So, why only 4 stars? On my maiden workout on this machine, I was doing the legs routine when the right caribiner suddenly popped. I thought they were flimsy looking out of the box, but I figured it was just me being picky. I didn't even have all of the resistance bands on at the time, so weight wasn't an issue. Thankfully no one was hurt, but it did scare my little one who was playing nearby when it happened. I had to stop the DVD and improvise so I could finish the workout (I took a caribiner from the hand straps to replace the broken one). I'm not going to bother calling the company about it; they're just going to send me replacement caribiners of the same quality. I'll just buy my own from the hardware store. Another thing I noticed is the right side shoulder rest is a bit sticky, making it difficult to do the rotation exercises, both for the arm and the leg (remember, it was the right side caribiner that popped). These aren't deal breakers of course, but this isn't a good way to start for a piece of equipment I plan to use regularly. So I will replace all of the caribiners and toy with the shoulder rest to see if I can get it to loosen up. Thankfully, this machine wasn't so expensive that I should be disappointed in its performance. And overall I'm really happy that I am able to train at home on an otherwise solid reformer.
