Review: This phone is great! - OMG, I love this phone. I went to VZ for 1 when my contract was up, and they had decided to stop carrying them like 2 days before I went in. So, I ordered from desertcart instead, and got if for HALF what verizon would have charged me. No overheating issues, runs like a dream, perfect upgrade from my note 4. Great device! Edited: had to get rid of it when I switched to T-MOBILE. Despite claims that it was not carrier locked, the Verizon VERSION WILL NOT WORK on T-MOBILE s system. I had to switch to a truly unlocked phone, and went with the Blu Studio XL. Camera isn't quite as nice, but hey at least my data works and I can switch carriers without changing phones. Miss the SPen, gotta be honest. Waiting to get a truly unlocked one when I find one....

A: Verizon phones are not locked.   You can put in any sim and it should work.   
You WILL get a message that says "SIM card is not from Verizon Wireless" but you can ignore that.   
You may also need to go into the settings and edit your Network Operators for your network.   But it does NOT need to be unlocked.

OMG, I love this phone. I went to VZ for 1 when my contract was up, and they had decided to stop carrying them like 2 days before I went in. I purchased this Note 5 as a gift for my husband who was very skeptical about the larger cell phones. He has admitted now that he was very wrong and he loves loves loves his large phone! It seems to fit fine in his pocket, which was his concern, and in the meantime it has replaced his tablet because the screen is large enough to do good internet searches and even display things to co-workers and friends. He doesn't usually use the stylus, but he teaches a class and this has become his go-to teaching tool. I have a Samsung S6 which I love but will soon be upgrading to the Note 5 too!
