What is the typical coverage area for 1 gallon?** A: I used it to seal rocks on my pool waterfall and used a small brush because I didn't want overspray in my pool and I wanted to be sure that I didn't miss any spots. This sealant is very watery and I believe it says you may use a pump sprayer. I believe it would work in a handheld garden sprayer because it is a very thin watery substance. I don't have the instructions but you can go to their website and read the product specifications. I'm not sure how far the gallon would go but I put 2 coats on my waterfall and covered all the natural stone around my pool coping and still had 10-12 ounces left. I have a salt water pool, my husband talked with a company representative and recommended this product. I've been pleased with the results so far.
