(2 times recc. distance requires 4 times exposure)** A: The change in the intensity of light follows the inverse square law. The intensity of light decreases by 1/(distance squared) But that doesn’t necessarily equate to the exposure time required by the person using the light. In general the exposure time for light therapy will increase as the intensity of the light decreases but since everyone has different number of receptors in the back of their eyes and the function and secretion from their pineal gland is also likely different, we don’t believe exposure time will follow any mathematical formula. (I have that one & like it)** A: I first ordered the VT22 and returned it for this model. This one has a MUCH better stand that is on the bottom and isn't easily knocked over. It also has 3 levels of brightness. It is almost the same size. I think it is a little taller and a little narrower, but not enough to make a difference. Give it a try! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Quality, portable, bright for winter *by M***R on 10 December 2019* This is a fantastic little daylight lamp. I have previously purchased other lamps by Verilux and of course they were much larger because you had CFL bulbs in them. CAUTION: THESE LIGHTS ARE SUPER BRIGHT. DON’T STARE DIRECTLY AT IT. Actually what works best for me is to angle it, face it at wall, or even put it slightly higher than my head. This way it brightens the near area without blinding me. ;) This new light is really sharp looking, as well as great build quality; a smooth feel and it just exudes quality. It is actually the size of an iPad mini. there’s a power button on the top, and there’s a 3 Stage Brightness Circle on the front you could touch for adjustment. The plug in the back looks like compact USB and it comes with an AC adapter. The whole thing is very portable. The stand for it slides onto the bottom and it locks onto the back for storage. The base is rubberized on the bottom and a little heavier. All in all this is a great lamp and it’s extremely portable. It’s winter up north here, it’s gray or darker and I really miss the sun since I work indoors a lot. This daylight therapy lamp and others seem to help me wake up better in the morning or during an afternoon slump, and I’m hoping it will help me sleep better at night as well.
