Works, has some thoughtful features.
Pros:-Small footprint. It has a narrow footprint that fits nicely between my desk and my nightstand. Other 8000 BTU units I've had in the past would not have come close to fitting in the same spot.-The window vent for the exhaust hose is better designed than units I've had in the past. A wingnut holds the extension in place and the exhaust hose slides to lock into place. No more fumbling with exhaust hoses that keep falling out of the window piece or extensions that break and slide out of position.-Remote is basic but works well. Timer controls are intuitive to use.-Temperature display stays on when the unit is off and displays the current ambient temperature in your room. Not super necessary but it's a nice feature to have to put a number to the "feel".-Design is subjective but I find the unit's design to be clean, simple, and attractive.Cons:-Noise level seems to be higher than units I've had in the past and most of it is coming from the fan alone, when the compressor kicks in, there's no huge change in noise level aside from the initial "click". There's only 2 fan level settings, loud and louder. That said, I'm someone who usually sleeps with a white noise machine anyway and I haven't had any issue sleeping with the unit running.-The display and some of the buttons stay lit up while the unit is off, as previously mentioned. This could be a problem for some people, but then again I use this thing so I can go to sleep on a balmy evening so the lights are going to be on regardless.-There are controls built directly into the unit. They're supposed to be touch-sensitive but... aren't. They don't reliably respond to inputs and it make take several presses to get what you want. Using the remote is much easier.-Remote didn't come with batteries... Sure I had some AAAs on hand but it would have been nice for them to be included since you need them to use the remote and you need to use the remote because the built-in controls are potatoes.-The user manual was written by someone with a poor grasp of the English language. You'll probably get the gist of what is going on but you may have to read and re-read instructions multiple times. Generally the unit is simple and self-explanatory to setup.-Glossy black top attracts dust. Be prepared to dust this thing every week. A matte finish would have been preferred.

Thank goodness for this unit!
I ordered this unit for my home office, where it gets very hot and stuffy because I have to keep the door closed and there are electronics running. I don't want to turn up the house's AC just to cool one room, so I ordered this, after a lot of back and forth research, worrying about which model would be best for me.It does the job beautifully. We live in Arizona, where the temperature was 111 yesterday. Last night our household AC broke down. Thank goodness I just happen to have this portable unit because it kept our bedroom nice and cool all night. We have at least one cool room while we wait for the repair person!Setup was super easy. I did it myself, a 62 year old woman. It's a bit heavy, but it's on wheels and has little handles on each side to help move it.The noise level is not too bad, pretty typical of a standard window unit. As I mentioned, I use it in my home office and I've asked people on the other side of my Zoom calls if they can hear it (I have my audio settings set to "High") and they do not hear it, even though I can.The vent hose that goes from the unit out the window isn't as long as I'd like it to be. I think it's about six feet long and that makes it a little difficult to put the unit in a convenient place, because of how my furniture is arranged, but I can make do.Overall, though, I highly recommend this portable AC unit. I only mention the less than perfect things because these were the questions I had when shopping for one of these.

Good purchase
UPDATE **We are now in 2022, hot as usual in south Texas. I moved and now have central a/c which I didn’t when I originally purchased this unit. We set it up in the living room anyway because we like it to be frigid. The unit is still going strong. I have not once in all this time ever had a problem with this little a/c unit. We have always done regular maintenance to keep the filters and fins clean. I lost the remote ages ago but haven’t missed it. Our electric bill hasn’t ever seen a dramatic increase during summer months even before we had central a/c. It is louder than what a lot of people prefer, but honestly we didn’t care about the noise as much as we cared about being hot. The window vent assembly IS a bit flimsy but we kept up maintenance on that as well, used insulation around the window and around the hose and used armor all on the plastic. It still looks like new. I have never used the sleep mode, on purpose anyway so I can’t say much about that, but I recommend the unit. Original review is below. It works, that the main thing. It's not a window unit, so don't be expecting it to work like one. If, however, you need to cool a room down then this will do the trick. I only have to empty it when I use the dehumidifier exclusively. It has no shut off but I can deal with it. The fan has 2 speeds and works pretty well. Hard to mess up a fan setting.
