My 9 year old daughter loves the beautiful colors of her Kendama
My 9 year old daughter loves the beautiful colors of her Kendama, but unfortunately it quickly became chipped to expose the bare wood below the painted surface. I wish the colors would run all the way through or be coated with a tough enamel to protect it. We've purchased 3 different ones and this one seems to be the easiest to use when performing multiple tricks due to its light weight and string length.

Great toy - push aside the electronics!
"Mom, I really, really, want one!!" "My friends at school have one and it's really, really fun!" So of course, we bought him one. My husband and I are especially happy with it because it's NOT an electronic game! One could even say it's an "old fashioned" toy. (And that's a good thing in this day and age.) It's also great for hand-eye coordination. It does chip with regular use, but that doesn't take away from the pleasure and fun of this non-battery operated, no power cord necessary, toy. My son turned 11 today and loved receiving his own colorful Kendama!

Paint chips off after first use.
This item’s paint chipped off the very first time my son used it, I encourage purchasing one that isn’t painted and has a ball made of a different material perhaps.

Frustratingly entertaining
I find this to be frustratingly entertaining. Be prepared for bruises when you miss. LOL

Kids loved playing with it
Item was exactly as described. Kids loved playing with it. However, about 3 weeks after having it, the string broke. It came with a replacement string however I have yet attempted to try to fix it. Too busy at this time to try and figure it out.

Look elsewhere for a more durable toy. This one will break quickly.
My son played with his Kendama for only a single day and the big cup/little cup has already come loose and is turning. It's a VERY poor design. There should be a small brass insert for the string to pass through that holds the cups in place instead of just trying to press fit a wood cylinder onto a slanted wooden dowel and hoping it stays. Maybe a touch of wood glue would keep the cups in place. I wish they'd put that extra $0.03 part on the thing. It looks really nice, though it's a bit more green than the picture shows, but that's not a big deal. My son is terribly disappointed that it broke after just a day though. I had a similar problem with one of these other Kendamas that I bought for my daughter where it has the same exact design flaw, but I've seen others that have the little brass insert and they are far more robust. I'll be looking for those from now on.

I have used the wooden ones which I wish I would have purchased, but nonetheless this one is still a fun diversion.
