Most vehicles will not have a factory switch for the hood, so you would need to add one. But this alarm allows for the doors and hood/trunk areas to be monitored while the alarm is armed. It will also have a slot on the alarm to hook up a additional shock sensor, but the alarm has a built-in shock sensor already. Also, along with a relay that can be wired up for the ignition kill. I have arrempted to clear valet mode several times, and it chirps confirmation.** A: My understanding (from our installer) is that the blue light will never “go out.” If car is in valet mode light will be on continuously. Once the system is armed the blue light will be flashing. The alarm has many more features than I thought. Mine came with the immobilizer circuit, even though the instructions said that it would need to be purchased separately. It also came with the LED as part of the antenna. This unit locks when the ignition is turned on and unlocks when the ignition is turned off. A nice feature I wasn't expecting. Couple criticisms is that the instructions with Viper alarms are terrible. They give you a piece of paper that says what wires should connect, and that is it. If you search the web for "tech sheets" for your car it's much easier than finding the right wires through your vehicle's wiring diagram. Lastly, the antenna needs to be connected and visible for the alarm to work.
