20 gb of music storage under $100 - and its from 2005 !
20 gb of music storage under $80 - and its from 2005 ! Easier to read than many, plays up to 192 kps AND wav. files. did I mention the 20 gb of music storage ? I think it still blowing the other music players away today with the storage/price point. There are 3 cons: 1. uses a proprietary cable plug which often does not come with the unit as 2. Dell stopped making this years ago and the resale companies sell the remaining stock as new but 'as is' meaning you may or may not get plug which also has a usb cable bundled with it. 3. Drivers are outdated as device is not supported (may not 'sync'), however the work around is ez to figure out and I never have any issues anymore. A good device that Dell fumbled the ball on and then kicked to the curb.

These work with all operating systems! (Windows 10, 8, 7, etc!)
AWESOME!All Dell DJ's work with all Windows PC's! Not just XP! If you do this... I love these Dell Dj's! For sound, these are easily comparable to any iPod or far better depending on which set of headphones you match up with them and on how you adjust the custom equalizer option. I use the with the "iPhone 6" earpods/headphones - let me just say - AMAZING! - Most of them only have the old firmware, so they will only work with a Windows XP SP1 or SP2 computer. If you have SP3 it will not work or be recognized by your PC. But if you update the firmware on the Dell DJ, it will work with all Windows PC's. Including Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, etc! OK - For fixing the DELL DJ issue with not being recognized or not being able to sync it up, with your system! I just got another one of these recently and my original path to fixing it did not work. But after hours of trying to figure it out I succeeded once again! Here is how: You must first update your Windows XP with SP1 or SP2 and also with the Media Player 10) and system drivers with the Dell Firmware called v.1.02.03,A00 DELL DJ Firmware Update. This then, will allow for the Dell DJ to be recognized and will allow it to sync with XP SP1 or SP2. Then it will also allow you to finally install the Dell Playsforsure update Version v.2.20.07, A02 - Update - that will allow you to Sync it with any Windows Operating System! If for any reason this does not work, just install all 3 of DELLS firmware updates but save the latest one called "play for sure" for last. Remember, to follow the my earlier post directions as well. Specifically about the XP details. If your XP system has SP3 on it, you will have to completely reinstall XP fresh to make it work. All of the firmware updates are easily found if you google search for Dell DJ firmware. Or go to the Dell support site and search in there. Good Luck!

LOVE IT!
I've owned this mp3 player since 2005 and it has been my very favorite one I've had! This was the first mp3 player I got and I became so spoiled! I got a new computer that had vista and then another that had Win 7 and the software for the DJ does not work with those systems! I have tried everything. :( It's extremely unfortunate. I still have the player and it works perfectly. It charges well and plays without a hitch. I'm just not able to update it. Since 2008, I have purchased a 120g Zune, 160g iPod, 64g Zen, and a 16g Sony mp3 player and I have returned them all. I just can't find one to match the DJ! It has a VERY unique shuffle mode. That's what I love most about it! Instead of shuffling all songs into one playlist, it selects different songs from every album but if it shuffles to a song you don't want to hear, you can just scroll up or down and select a song from the same album because they are still listed in order, all you have to do is play it!!! For me, that's the most important and AWESOME shuffle function ever created. I own thousands of CDs and that is just such a great way to have a shuffle function operate, in my opinion.

Dell DJ 20/30 sofware works using Win XP or Win 2000 only. ...
Dell DJ 20/30 sofware works using Win XP or Win 2000 only. Forget using Vista or Win 7. If using Leonx system, 3rd software is available for free. It is possible to get a "virtual" Wind xp when using Win 7, but way to much hassle just for this HEAVY weight mp3 player.

A little bulky but a nice mp3 player
A lot of reviewers say this unit does not work with windows 7 and vista. The softwear may not, but you can use the computers media player and sync and drag the songs you want to the Dell DJ. I have windows 8.1 and just the other day I transfered music from the Dell DJ to my media player. My Ford Focus has the sync system and I can pair up the Dell DJ with it also. The unit has great sound and holds a ton of music. Not a bad mp3 player.

Best MP3 player. Ever.
This is the best MP3 I have ever owned. I got one in 2004. It still works. It still holds a charge. It's still way easier to operate than that stupid touch sensitive wheel on the iPod. I set this thing in a cupholder filled with raspberry tea and tea got inside of it through the place where you plug the charger. It still smells like raspberry tea inside there but it still charges and I never had to replace anything on it. I really wish they were still making these. They are far superior to anything Apple can come up with.

A Huge Outdated Gadget
I bought one of these and I felt scammed, this huge gadget works only with windows 95 or older versions. So I gave it to my nephew for him to disassemble it in to parts and play with them.

Way past its' prime
Was a terrific player when it first came out - I had a 15 GB 1st gen (basically the same except for software). Mono screen is small and dull by ANY measure compared to newer players that sports a larger, brighter, color displays. Cannot play video, does not have radio, DO NOT work with newer operating systems, Vista or Win 7. Why anyone would pay more than $15 for these obsolete units when you can have larger capacity, more functional players now is beyond me. By the way - good luck if the battery runs out!
