After my surgeries I was able to have my hair washed and bathe my lower body for the duration that I needed to keep the surgical sites dry. Make sure you seal off all of the entry points per the instructions. I wore it while leaning back and having someone else wash my hair. It felt like I was getting wet through the garment, but when I was finished I was still dry. Even though it is advertised as water resistant vs. waterproof, I had no problems with the material becoming saturated. The drain pockets were a huge plus. I feel that it was worth every cent in order bathe and keep my surgical sites dry.
