We've come such a long way from that, but I've never stopped collecting music on my own rather than streaming because I like being able to take my music everywhere, truly, so finding a semi old school mp3 player to replace my failing ipod was a necessity. I think that's what I like most about this player: no touch screens, no apps, just the music. The FiiO looks really sleek, feels very stylish to look at, and packs a great sound. Admittedly the UI does leave a lot to be desired, it's a bit clunky upon opening it right from the box, but honestly, the ease of everything else makes this forgiveable. Plugged it right into my computer and was able to start copying a huge chunk of my library right away. I have not tried the Bluetooth so I'm not sure how well that works, but it sounds great with regular wired headphones/IEMs. Very happy with it. Review: Sounds good, but terrible UI - The sound is really good using wired headphones (if I wanted Bluetooth I'd just use my phone). It's a decent size, although I kind of wish it was bigger (glad I didn't get one of the small versions). The buttons feel nice and responsive and it has a good weight to it that makes it feel quality. Battery is decent for a device this small. The main problems come from UI. Apparently you can't just plug it into your computer and drag and drop files, which is something my first MP3 player could do a quarter century ago. Luckily I had an SD card reader available. There's no playing queue which would be nice to queue up multiple songs /albums. It doesn't respect song numbering which makes several albums I have not good to listen to as they're meant to play in order. And several other nitpicks. The device feels high quality, the UI is okay but it moves snappy. Takes a while to scroll through your music, unfortunately. The battery life is good, music is high quality, and the screen size is perfect. The size is perfect in the hand and easily fits in the pocket. I wish they would add support for gapless playback and a way to move through the artist or song list quicker, but it is a $70 DAP. What do you expect? I really would like to have a way to favorite artists and albums too, but you can only favorite songs.
