A Wonderful Shaver at the Top of It's Class
Gentlemen, this is the shaver you have been looking for. The Phillips Norelco S9300 series is without a doubt the best Phillips Norelco shaver that I have used to date. I believe this is my 4th Phillips Norelco shaver that I have used in the past 10 years, and although the most expense, quite frankly the best. I was skeptical at first seeing how my last Norelco failed at the hinge for the shaving heads, turning what used to be a 10 minute morning routine into 20+ minutes, if splurging for the 2nd highest end model was really such a great idea. Could this really cut down on shaving time and offer a cleaner cut than before? Sure, this is not a straight-edge razor and you will have a 5'Oclock shadow later in the day, but now it's at 9pm rather than at 5.Before purchasing I read through many reviews here and elsewhere online. There was also almost a purchase of a Braun Series 7, but I have never used a Braun before, and didn't want to go through the hassle of trying it out and then deciding at a later time to return to what I have grown comfortable with. One of the most inspiring articles found online regarding this shaver gave me the answer. It's not about the shaver and it's not about the accessories, in this case the Smart Clean system. It's all about the cutting heads, the item that does ALL the work. The V-Track Precision Blades used on this unit are the latest technology from Norelco and it shows. Pushing too hard on the shaver will cut a layer of skin off your face, it's that close. The cutting heads on this unit are the same as the 9700 series, so unless you want status bars on your Smart Clean system or a battery percentage level display on your razor, there is no reason to skip over this unit. If you keep an eye on the price you can also purchase it from Amazon for under $200 at times. There was a coupon available to me when purchasing this item but it no longer appears to be here. The shaver is a much improved version of my last Norelco. Seeing how the main point of failure on my last unit was the hinge I was excited to find this model had none. To clean out the shavings, you simply pull the cutting heads and their holder off the unit. This allows for me to dry it much better as well leaving out any small crevices. While there is no pop-up trimmer it does come as an accessory that you can use by removing the entire gear assembly for the cutting heads and attaching the straight blade to the base with the battery. The base is also much studier than my last model, it feels hefty but not too heavy holding it in your hand. I will admit the power button is where I place my thumb during shaving, but I have only managed to accidently turn it off once or twice. It's not that big of an issue. The buttons on either side of it are to increase and decrease the blade speed. Personally they have only been used at the highest speed although I can see where slower cutting can help if you have a sensitive upper-lip for example. The battery holds a great charge lasting up to 4 or 5 shaves before needing to be re-charged. If you place the unit into the Smart Clean system, it will re-charge automatically while cleaning.Speaking of the Smart Clean system, that is the only point of failure on this shaving kit. I can't discredit the shaver for the poor performance of the Smart Clean system, and Phillips Customer Service is absolutely wonderful in solving any issues with this product. The Smart Clean unit that I had received did not work as intended. The water ran out of the base all over the countertop and would run at random hours of the day starting by itself. Only having been used twice, the icon for the low fluid came on and would no longer let me use the system, presumably from the over-flow that occurred previously. I contacted Phillips Customer Service about this and they sent out a new Smart Clean unit and it has now been working perfectly since receiving it. Not knowing if I'm falling for a placebo effect, the Smart Clean system does appear to actually work. The first two shaves after using it feel much better, then it slowly degrades the next three days. I may start to clean the shaver more often rather than only when the battery is low.Phillips Norelco has renewed my confidence in their line of shavers with this product, and I would recommend the 9300 series to anyone in the market for a new unit that utilizes an electric razor every day. The cost is high, however the V Track blades are absolutely a step-up from the entry and mid-range shavers offered by Norelco, and this is the cheapest unit that contains them.

but the 9300 gets you pretty close. that being said
first, let me say that i've used several electric razors before this one. of all of them, i think this gives the closest shave to a safety or straight razor that you can buy. that's not to say that the shave you get with ANY electric razor is comparable to the shave you'll get with a real razor, but the 9300 gets you pretty close. that being said, i think this is the best electric razor around right now & i'll detail why below.the razor itself is easy to use (ergonomically speaking) & the head flexes very nicely on contours of the face. there are three blade speeds depending on the type/sensitivity of your skin & the three heads do a very good job so that there's no re-covering ground that you've already shaved. another plus is that it can be used wet or dry. it does a very good job dry without irritating, but if you're feeling extra eager you can add some lather/soap & get an even closer, more luxurious shave.the cleaning unit is a great additional feature & i have had none of the issues other reviewers have mentioned. the drying cycle is unreasonably long (~4 hours?!?!), but that does't really matter since you won't be needing it until after said cycle is over. i have noticed a difference in how this shaver feels on my face with daily cleaning compared to past shavers which i cleaned maybe once a week (because i had to do it by hand).overall this is a fantastic razor. as i said above, the quality of shave you get with this razor is (i believe) the best you can get with an electric. if you truly want the closest shave possible, go for a safety (or straight) razor. but for the ease of daily use, comfort of shave & the cleaning unit, i don't think you can go wrong here. it is pricey, but quality costs. the razor itself is made very well & it comes with some nice amenities that you don't get with cheaper options.

Great Shaver, Great Experience, Fair Build Quality
After 10 years of service, my old faithful shaver, a Norelco 7140xl, passed on after the battery / charging system made failed. So after researching and contemplating if I should go Foil, I came to the understanding to remain a Rotarian. After getting the money setup, I bought this shaver as soon as I could so I could finally be free from my beard lol. Some Important Points:This shaver is wonderfully quiet compared to the buzzerds known as Foils. I tried a light wet shave (water only, no cream) and it felt smooth. Even a dry shave is smooth, bur can be made smoother using lectric preshave or Remington Face saver. When it comes to the lip area, my technique is to use one Rotar, and then going back and forth with a little nutation, and that should get the job done.A major qualm is the build quality of the speed buttons. You have to push on the center of each of them. At least on my unit, it took some force before I found that out to change the speed. Now when it comes to actual shaving, I found this device does not do well with hairs longer than a quarter inch. What I mean is that without diligence the hair does not enter an inlet. But of course you can simply attach the trimmer to remedy those outliers. Once around an eighth of an inch, this shaver does its magic. The cleaning system is great but read the directions first. You cannot just cram it in but have to disengage the charging unit so as to slide it in. 4 hours for a complete cycle might seem long but to simply clean it you can just use your lavatory. Then do a cleaning when you have the time. Mind you, the cleaning system will not disinfect your shaver. So have some after shave or other disinfectant available. This is what I have for now, will update in the near future.Update : After 4 months of use the cleaning station went out. However Norelco promptly provided me a replacement, which also happened to be for the 9700. Working beautifully.

Out of work
This product started bothering me when I have been working with it, the head of the machine jumps when I use it and interrupt shaving frequently. I'm a long-user of Philips since I was young but now I'm super disappointed with it.

Must have
One of the Best shavers I've ever used... very quick, smooth and impressive. It's a must have for the one who has no time putting lather, washing and shaving slowly. Thank you to Amazon and the seller both for making this product available in India.

Worse than my old one
You can't get a close shave with this thing! Don't buy it. Takes forever to shave and does a lousy job.

Desempeño impresionante con gel para afeitar
Excelente afeitadora. Tengo piel sensible y su desempeño es buenísimo al usarla con gel para afeitar, lo que permite un rasurado muy cómodo. Además, los cartuchos de la estación de limpieza se pueden comprar en Amazon y cada uno dura 3-5 meses.
