Great cab for the price
Great cab for the price. Sounds good with my Orange CR120H head. It'd be nice if there were inset handles on both sides instead of the single handle on the top, but that's pretty common for this configuration. I put in caster wheels for easier portability, which worked pretty well.

Great cabinet
This is just about as nice a cabinet as I have ever seen. Very high quality and sturdy construction. The stock speakers were ok but I replaced them with Eminence Private Jacks and now this cabinet is superb. Great value and high quality - can't do any better unless you want to spend huge bucks for a handmade solid pine cabinet. I highly recommend this cabinet.

Solid Cabinet Build. Speakers Need Time To Break-In.
I ordered this cab to go with my VHT Special 6 Ultra head. They match in looks and build. The build is far better than expected for this price. This is an over-sized 2X12 speaker cabinet. They use void-less, Baltic Birch plywood with "finger joints" at each corner. The Tolex looks standard, and is applied well, with no glue showing, gaps or excessive overlap. The build quality is very good on my example. The cabinet could use steel, side, inset handles and casters. These can be installed without much pain. The speakers are VHT "ChromeBack", 60W, 12" drivers. At first, I wanted (and had planned) to replace them with WGS speakers, but I decided to wait until I had the rest of the parts for the side handles and casters, and then do all the work at once. Being that I already had a couple of 112 cabinets that I really liked, I just used them and didn't get around to doing any of the work on the VHT cab. These "ChromeBack" speakers did not sound terrible with most of my guitars, but they didn't sound great either. I have guitars equipped with humbucker pups, a P90 single coil pup, and some with Fender single coils. None of these sounded very good with the "ChromeBack" speakers. However, I did find a use for them (still in their VHT cabinet): I used a transformer to plug an XLR microphone cable into the Special 6 Ultra amp head, that was connected to the VHT 212 cabinet. It actually sounded decent as a low power PA, so I just used it for a PA when I rehearsed. I used this setup for over a year. One day I was trying out some new strings on most of my electric guitars, and I plugged into the VHT just to see how it sounded. Using this amp/cab setup for a PA, for over a year, must have helped break-in the ChromeBack speakers. The Les Paul I was playing sounded decent through these speakers! I tried all of the rest of my electric, and electric-acoustic, guitars and they all sounded quite good!I will still tinker around with the settings on the amp, and pedals, casually, for the time being; because I am still using this configuration for a low powered PA for practice and rehearsal. Later I plan to try some recording; straight out of the line out of the amp head, and try different microphones on, and in, the cabinet. For now, I do not know if I will keep the ChromeBack speakers installed, or install some WGS, Celestion, or Eminence speakers in the near future. When I first got this cab, I was going to install different speakers in it, and toss the ChromeBacks. But for now, if I do decide to load different speakers in this cab; I will keep the ChromeBacks and either build another cab(s) to put them in, or just hang on to them as spare parts.I do recommend this cabinet. Even if you do not like the ChromeBacks, the cab itself is very well made and you will be hard-pressed to find anything better in it's price range. Change the speakers to something you know you like if you do not have the time, or just don't care to give the ChromeBacks time to break-in. For the folks on a budget, this is a very good buy, especially if you take the time to break-in the ChromeBacks and decide you like them (or just decide they are serviceable for your needs). I used them for over a year as PA speakers and they worked well for that; but now that they are broken-in, they are working quite well for guitar amplification. Either way, the cabinet is worth the cost by itself, but now I have found you can buy the cabinet empty; and install the drivers of your choice. That is what I would have done, had the empty cabinet been available at the time, but now I am glad I gave the ChromeBacks time to break-in.

Amazing 212 for the price of a 112
I was in the market for a 1X12 or a used 2X12 which are hard to come by in decent shape. I was going to buy an Orange PPC112 until I saw this. My first impressions are that this is a very solid well built cabinet with very nice piping detail and an absolute steal at this price. It is made in China, but what isn't today, so don't be confused about posts that say this is a US cabinet. It arrived double boxed which was good since UPS left it in the snow! I only recieved it yesterday and played through it for a couple of hours, so the speakers aren't broken in, but I am very impressed with the VHT chrome backs. I'm using a Blackheart 5W tube amp and it sounds fantastic. The chrome backs are definately British voiced and I would bet are copied from a Celestion design. They are quite bright and have a crystal clear highs with smooth mids and bluesy subtle bass. Kick in the overdrive and you'd swear you were playing through a Marshal cabinet but you have quite a lot of money left over. Tweek the amp settings and you can get thundering clear bass and still maintain those clear high gain high notes. It's a beautiful cabinet and worth far more than it's being sold for. Whatever head you're going to run through this, for what ever style of music, it will not dissappoint. Even if you decide to change the speakers you're still way ahead of the game for this price. I've played for over 20 years and have been through a lot of gear so I know what cheap speakers/amps sound like and I can honestly say that I will probably keep the chrome backs for the forseable future. From blues to black metal this cabinet delivers!I'm updating this review because I have used this cabinet extensively and although in th beginning I was very impressed by it the stock VHT chrombacks are lackluster at best. The cabinet itself is great quality but a speaker swap is definately required. The chromebacks were pretty nice when new. They were well balanced and high a nice sparkle to them on clean tones. They fall apart when you really push them at high volume with high gain. They become thin and fizzy and sound like an ice pick is being driven into your ear. No amount of amp eq adjustments could change this sound. Bedroom level volumes did not bring this out of them and I only noticed this when pushing them very hard. So my conclusion is that the cab is still a great buy and I would buy it again. The speakers are great for clean tones and all other tones at low volume but if you're going to push them hard don't bother just swap them. I put a set of used V30s in and what a difference.
