Tjernlund EF-6 Duct Booster Fan, 6"

I needed to pull hot air from a fireplace upstairs to down in the basement. This worked fantastic. It's a little loud but not bad and well worth any sound it delivers because of the amount of hot air it delivers.

This booster fan replaced a recently installed Suncourt booster fan that failed after about two months. This fan is much more durable and powerful and as such a little more noisy. I used a variable speed switch from KN Electronics to adjust the speed and it works great.

Many years ago when I started using a pellet stove to heat the house, I discovered very little heat made it to the back of the house. I installed this fan with a variable speed control in a separate duct running though the garage to circulate heat to the back bedrooms. After the heating season was over, I found it was also useful in the summer to circulate cool air in the evenings. After ten years of nearly continuous use, the first unit's motor started making noises, which bothered the wife at night. The replacement has been operating continuously now for several months with no problems.

Works and installs fine. But has way to much motor noise and vibrations for my liking. I'm not talking about air flow noise and vibration, as one expects and understands that. The particular unit I received comes with way to much inherent motor noise and vibration. I suspect blade balance or out of balance inductance. I went back a re-installed the unit using some Neoprene lined gap clamps and line all my duct hanger straps with Neoprene strips to cut down on the transfer of the vibration. Definite Improvement. I also added the SC-1 speed control (unit made to fit this fans junction box). fits well and works, however provides very minimal speed adjustment (maybe 20%) even though it has full 360 dial.Update: 3/25/20: unit removed and replaced, with a model that moves way more air, even when set at a 3rd of the speed, and has absolutely no vibration or reverb. Other than air existing duct, you can not even tell it is running. Replaced with AC Infinity CloudLine S6 Purchased thru Amazon and fulfilled by AC Infinity.

I purchased this item end of October 2022. I Didn't get around to installing it until mid February. I made the mistake of installing it prior to testing it. It is dead right out of the box.Too late for refund. Other Tjernlund fans I have purchased in the past were reliable and still working today but this one was a DUD. Live and learn.It was easy to install and would have served my purpose well but it is DOA.

I have a room that stays hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Read up on these things and bought one to try it. I spent 4 hrs in a 140 degree attic to get this thing installed. I read other reviews on the noise level so I installed in 10 ft from the room. The temp outside is one if the hottest days this summer which would normally make this room unbearable. But after 2 hrs the room has cooled down to the temperature of the rest of the house. The noise is not that bad. You can hear it but not any louder than the ceiling fan in the room. This booster fan has changed my daughters life. Thank you very much. Well worth the money and the 4 hrs of sweating my butt off. And also lost 4.5 lbs too, BONUS.

Works like a charm

A little louder than I'd like, but it works well. Wired the fan to come on when my hvac kicked on. Will update ify opinion on the fan changes.
