For the price, they should be better...
These are a great pair of active noise cancelling earphones. The sound is crisp with good depth and the noise cancelling functionality is excellent. There were 3 major downsides for me.1. The box that contains the active noise cancelling technology and the battery is only a few centimetres from the plug so the weight pulls on the plug and the weight pulls the earphones out of my ears when I'm running. When I use them with a bluetooth receiver, the noise cancelling box and the bluetooth dongle are too close together, so it's awkward to carry. The box should be where the wires from the left and right ears meet just below the user's chin.2. There's no clip! If the active noise cancelling box had a clip to attach it to your clothes and the box was located in the right place (see point 1) then it would go a long way to improving the usability of the earphones.3. None of the ear buds fit my ears properly. The smallest ones allow outside noise to filter in, removing the active noise cancelling properties. The bigger ones were too tight and hurt my ears. The material used in the rubber(?) caused my ears to ache after 30 minutes or so. Not good when listening to films or sports. For the cost, everything would have to be perfect, not just the sound and active noise cancellation.

a nice fit in to the ear and still comfortable after ...
Superb sound quality, a nice fit in to the ear and still comfortable after a few hours of use.Worth the money? My first set of earphones above the £50 mark, and only time will truly tell, but after a week with them I think they are a good investment. My only criticism is that the ANC box is very close to the jack plug and can end up pull on the jack. Whether this causes an issue over time, I'll have to wait and see. I am trying to take care and position my mobile so that the pulling is negated or minimized.

A1 Ear Bud Headphones
Bought as a gift for my husband who has hearing problems and wears hearing aids. These are first pair of in ear headphones that he can hear clearly with. He is a bit of a music buff so is very critical. He thinks if you have good hearing these must be amazing. Moral on this occasion, it is true, you get what you pay for. These are noise cancelling ear buds, quality & effectiveness depends on buds you choose from those supplied, he used the memory foam ones. They are not wireless but that suits him as still light and can’t get lost. Went for basic package (cheaper option) but you get everything including pouch & bud selection just not the leather case. Very happy with these.

Great product
Excellent quality and the noise cancelling is fantastic.. Very easy to use controls too. Only downside is that it doesn’t have a clip to secure the wires to your clothing. Also it says the n the box that it’s designed for iPhone but it doesn’t come with an iPhone connection adapter which at this price should be included.

Poor fit average sound
Avoid far too expensive for what they are.

Nice finish, good battery life - but I think the Bose QC20s are better.
I also have the Bose QC20 headphones so its an interesting comparison. The black colour scheme is nice and subtle on this, though the blue/black of the Bose does make them easier to find. Battery box is smaller on the B&O and a slightly longer cable to plug into the device. Standard 3.5mm plug, no wireless here.Noise cancelling easier on the B&O to turn on and off - battery life very similar - a long time.I do though think the QC20's give better sound and most importantly, they are much more comfortable. For me, I found these hurt my ears at times - almost like an electric shock - a most odd feeling. The Bose on the other hand fit easily and stay put - and I can wear them for hours. All in all, very good quality finish, good sound cancelling - but I think the Bose beats them in every area - only just, but its compelling.

Great Noise Cancelling Earphones Let Down By A Single Design Flaw
Its taken me a while to post a review of Bang & Olufsen's Beoplay E4 Advanced Active Noise Cancelling Earphones because I needed the chance to submit them to the ultimate test; long haul travel. This is where form me active noise cancelling earphones like the B&O Play E4's can either sink or swim. The critical issue is whether they can effectively suppress the background noise of a long haul flight whilst simultaneously producing decent playback and remaining comfortable to wear for an extended period of time.In the case of the B&O Play E4's the answer, happily, is that they manage to do all three very successfully. Not only in the active noise cancelling excellent, it is delivered without flattening the audio playback to any significant degree. There is a certain loss of crispness to the audio when the cancelling is activated, but not to an extent that is really noticeable or harms the listening experience. The earphones also remain comfortable to wear for long periods, despite each bud being relatively bulky. I managed several hours of continuous wear without any of the soreness that some earphones can cause over time. The buds themselves also remained securely positioned in pretty much every environment, from sitting still during a flight to riding a subway at rush hour. They might not be as sleek or discreet as some earphones out there but I didn't once worry about them falling out at an inopportune moment (although I have some issues regarding the box containing the noise cancelling system that I'll address below). As you would expect with a product from B&O, the E4's also sport excellent build quality. Every part feels solidly built, with not a flimsy connection or cheap cable to be found. If anything some of the cables can feel a little too thick and lacking in flexibility, but at the same time you don't need to worry about loose connections or unexpected interference.Battery life on the active noise cancelling is also good. So far a single charge (via a standard mini-USB connection) has lasted at least six hours of playback without any signs of running out. Recharging is quick too.The only real criticism of the E4's that I can make is the absence of a clip to secure the small box containing the active noise cancelling to a user's clothing. This might initially seem like a minor issue but its an irritating one to encounter with such a high end product.Whilst the box isn't big or bulky, without some form of clip the only option for securing it left to a user is to shove it in the same pocket as the device the earphones are attached to . This feels awkward due to the twin facts that firstly, there isn't really enough cable between headphone jack and box and that secondly, by being forced to tuck it all away you reduce the overall available length of the earphone cables by about 10%. It also restricts access to the on/off switch for the noise cancelling. Moreover, in my experience when the box was tucked away in a trouser pocket the constant movement of the shortened wires running up to the earbuds when walking repeatedly pulled it out again, leaving it hanging free and pulling uncomfortably at the earbuds. As a result of this oversight the E4's don't feel totally secure when used in environments where anything approaching energetic movement is required. I certainly wouldn't want to use them when running or cycling without finding a way to reliably secure the box. If it was to come free it would be all too easy for it to catch on something. I'd even think twice about using them on a regular commute unless I could have device, box and plenty of cable slack tucked away in a deep jacket pocket. For earphones of this type that has to count as a significant flaw, Why B&O couldn't have provided some way to secure the box to clothing I have no idea. For a device that is otherwise impeccably designed and constructed it seems like a major and inexplicable oversight. It also reduces the overall rating I can give the B&O E4's from a clear 5 stars down to a slightly flaky 4.

Lasted 3 months and B&O refused to service
Do not buy this product. Within 3 months the noise cancelling feature started to malfunction and B&O has refused to service the product as 1. The label with the serial number fell off and 2. the Amazon invoice did not include the serial number.
