Review: Great tablet for the money - I bought this around 2 and a half years ago as I just wanted a simple and reliable tablet. I'm a graphic designer and illustrator and use this regularly in my work. After having various issues with other brands I wanted a simple tablet without all the bells and whistles - personally I find keyboard shortcuts easier to use so never end up using hotkeys on tablets etc. This model allowed me to maximize the drawing area while still keeping the tablet small and portable - it slides straight into my bag and I pretty much never notice it. To me this model is like a modern version of the bamboo line from the 2000s-2010s - its simple and just gets the job done. The pen is a classic Wacom pen and doesn't require charging like some other brands' pens which is super helpful. The tablet is accurate and responsive and pen pressure sensitivity works flawlessly in every software I've tried - including photoshop, illustrator, and blender. I use this tablet on both Mac and Windows and have never had any issues with the drivers or any other settings - just downloaded the Wacom software and it worked perfectly first try without any issues. Overall I'd recommend this tablet if you want a simple workhorse tablet without all the bells and whistles, with a low price and great portability to boot.
Review: Best thing I ever bought for 'sculpting' on Blender - As a new-comer to Blender, I decided not to buy a graphics tablet until I was sure I was going to need one. I was happy to use just my laptop, the keyboard and my finger on the touchpad. I was able to 'sculpt' to a fairly high standard, just taking that extra amount of time and effort to do it. But then, as I got the hang of Blender, I thought about buying an 'all-singing, all-dancing' graphics tablet. I watched many videos covering the cheapest and simplest to the most expensive, and very nearly ordered one costing around 600 GBP. But then I worried about the possibility of faults, damage, etc and more importantly that these higher end graphics tablets require one to use both the graphics tablet with one hand, and a keyboard or supplemental 'mini-keyboard thingy' with the other, and obviously to sit at a desk and try to perform acrobatics reaching and using everything effectively, ultimately doing one's back and neck in. So, I thought, 'go for a cheap one first' and see how I get on. Well, after plumping for the 'Wacom One' I was confused when I received a 'One by Wacom' which in all of the videos is shown as being a different tablet to the 'Wacom One'. To add to the confusion the Wacom One is described as 'Red' and the 'One by Wacom' 'Black', but they are both Black on the 'face' and Red at the back and both come in the identical red box. The serial number of the Wacom One is different from the One by Wacom but it is given an extra 'N' in the description and online but not on the item itself. Anyway, it turns out I was sent the correct one, and boy, it made the job of sculpting a piece of cake! It was a simple task to go online and set the tablet up, with just a few clicks. I kept it so simple as to not even bother setting up the buttons on the pen other than 'select' ; forget about pressure, opting for delete, or 'back' etc, just use it as one would a plain pen. The sculpt. I had no issues whatsoever, looking at my laptop screen and NOT looking at my tablet and pen. I just looked at the cursor on my laptop and hand/eye coordination did the rest. It was so easy I actually began sculpting whilst laying on a couch, with the index finger of my left hand poised over the laptop shift button. By day two I and easily, and extremely cheaply, sculpted a fantastically detailed zombie rotting head/face and body Who needs a 500 GBP graphics tablet? Not me.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does the tablet work with Linux?**
A: Yes it does :). It works perfectly for me in Krita and Blender.
You may need to run this every time you plug it in. I need to run this on Manjaro, but not on ubuntu.
sudo modprobe wacom

I have a script I run every time I plug my tablet in. Here's what's in it.

# Flip it 180 degrees so we can use it upside down.
xsetwacom --set "Wacom One by Wacom M Pen stylus" Rotate half

# The default mode is for the cursor to jump to the location where the pen is on the tablet.
# I sometimes prefer relative mode, because it's more natural and I can just move the cursor bit by bit.
#xsetwacom --set "Wacom One by Wacom M Pen stylus" Mode relative

# Other artists use absolute mode, so I guess I will too.
# Plus I can map it to a monitor and that way I won't ever lose my cursor.
xsetwacom --set "Wacom One by Wacom M Pen stylus" Mode absolute
xsetwacom --set "Wacom One by Wacom M Pen stylus" MapToOutput HDMI-A-0

**Q: Is this compatible with Linux?**
A: Hi, thanks for reaching out.
Wacom does not offer a Linux driver directly, but there is a Linux driver available for most Wacom devices at the Linux Wacom Project on Github.
Many Linux distributions come with the driver pre-installed, so first try attaching your device to your Linux machine to see if it works. If it doesn’t, visit the Github repository to download drivers and get more information.
I hope this helps!

Kindest Regards,
David P.

**Q: Will i be able to use this to mark work my students email me. they use photos, pdf's, wordpad and word. can i use it for all these programmes?**
A: First thing to note is that to make the tablet work you will need to install its drivers. If your computer is supplied by your school/college you may need to check with your IT people that you can install them before you buy the tablet. If you are using Windows 10 then the tablet fully supports the inking features built into this version of Windows. This will enable you to directly use the pen on their work supplied as photos and the latest word files (.docx). You will need to open the files in a specific program like Word or Paint, it won't work directly in your email client. Wordpad files can be converted to the latest type of word file and can then be written on, although I would export the marked version to an image or pdf for return to the student because I am not sure Wordpad would open files marked in this way. As for pdf I am not aware of a version of a pdf editor that supports inking, however you could save the pdfs as an image file and then mark in the same way as a photo.
If you are using a Mac or Linux based PC then I have no experience of those operating systems so my comments probvbably won't apply, sorry.

**Q: Does this include the software like other Wacom drawing tablets?**
A: The One by Wacom offers free trial offers for Collaboard, Explain Everything, Kami, Limnu and Pear Deck (educational/collaborative apps and websites). If you have a Chromebook, you are also offered a free trial of Clip Studio Paint PRO which is a digital art software.
The Clip Studio offer is only valid for ChromeOS.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great Product - Customer Service Stinks
*by G***T on 29 July 2020*

I bought the tablet in March and have found it really useful for my work (digital art and photo editing). No complaints. I would have given it 5 stars all round were it not for the dreadful web store at Wacom and trying to find compatible nibs. All my wins are now worn and I went to Wacom store and ordered the nibs supposedly compatible with the pen. The nibs arrived and are even labelled WACOM ONE. However, they are tiny and way too small for the pen that came with the tablet. I emailed WACOM and the email exchange is not dissimilar to banging your head against a wall. The person I have the misfortune of trying to communicate with has not addressed any of the issues I have raised regarding the difficulties in finding the compatible product or the FACT that the nibs labelled WACOM ONE are not compatible. They have suggested I return them, with international shipping that would be very expensive. The shipping has already cost me one £5 and I am expected to pay again because of their website recommending the wrong thing and the nibs being labelled incorrectly.
