Lightweight
I gave this katana 4 stars however it was made for someone like me. This katana is extremely lightweight even more than my oak bokken. This sword was so light it felt like there was nothing in my hand which was very odd. The construction was flawless all fittings were extremely tight and handle wrap was very well done and uniform. The handle length was another issue for me that I thought I would like probably due to my size it just seamed like in got in the way. The blade was beautifully designed but very narrow which contributed to the lightness of the blade. Even though the sword has been well thought-out and well built it just is not for a big guy like me. This katana would probably be more suited to a smaller more slender person.

Very Attractive Sword
This was my first Japanese style sword, so I did not know what to expect. The inexpensive swords I have seen were thick and bulky. This blade is light, thin and narrow, but quite attractive. The hamon, depending on light angle, is barely visible or very bright. With a long handle (14") that takes up 1/3 of the total length, it is very easy to maneuver and gives a substantial amount of control. The blue color is very attractive.Fittings are well done with a lot of detail for the price. It is not a high end handmade sword, but it's also not something you are going to be cutting stuff with in your back yard. I'm satisfied with the purchase and will enjoy it for many years.
