Before getting this bar, my squats suffered because of bad form. My shoulders don't permit proper grips when doing back squats and, knowing the problem there, I was nervous doing high weight front squats. Even with the nerf pad, I could feel the bar resting point on my neck days after a workout. I didn't want to quit doing squats so the research started.This style of bar was the answer if I wanted to keep doing squats on my power rack at home. After researching other similarly styled bars, this one won over because it was priced better than most and rated as well as the best. The real kicker was Amazon Prime picked up the cost to move it across the country...massive savings in that aspect alone. It also has to be mentioned that is was shipped quickly and the company has reached out to ensure my complete satisfaction.The bar itself is well constructed. Its appearance and feel are both solid. The simplicity of design and excellent padding have given me confidence under the bar that I've not had since getting back into weightlifting. Because the weights are more centered than with either a front or back squat, the feel changed during use. Some people don't like this but its of no consequence to me...the exercise is still happening and I feel like I'm coming out well ahead on the (slight) compromise. It feels a lot like using some of the squat machines I've used in some high end gyms.Here's the bottom line. Shoulder problems inhibited proper and safe form during squats. I didn't want to stop doing squats, I didn't want to spend a lot of money, nor did I want to compromise safety by getting shoddy equipment. I'm 100% satisfied with this purchase.it should be mentioned that I messed up my shoulder AGAIN not long after getting this bar. After I'm able to get bigger plates on I still expect complete satisfaction. You'll hear from me if that changes.

If you've been benching heavy for years and can't get your hands on the bar behind your neck when doing squats, this is a solid alternative. I've been using this safety squat bar for a few weeks now and I'm getting used to it. It definitely takes the stress off my shoulders. The bar is heavy duty and well made, its ridiculously high priced, but you know that before you buy it. I haven't found any other safety squat bars, for any cheaper. All in all, if you've got the money, and are serious about lifting and squatting, then you can't go wrong with this bar. I've bought a lot of stuff from this company and its all been good quality.

Like most old “old school” guys, my shoulders are torched from years of heavy lifting. I dropped squats from my workouts because I could not rotate my shoulders back to grab the bar, and front squats were just not cutting it. This bar is great! It’s safe, easy to control and offers me a little security in my lifts. Buy this bar. Worth the money. It arrived 4 days ahead of shipping schedule. Very satisfied. And it’s pretty tough to beat anything sold by NY Barbell.

The safety squat bar arrived and I was excited to start using it for my leg day. I got it in the power rack set up with my warmup weight and got the yoke around my neck and the neck pads on the yoke were not right. They were about twice as thick as they should be and had pushed the bar handles up to my ears. The bar did not balance right. I've used EFS and Rogue bars in gyms and this felt nothing like it. I have a bad elbow from an injury I sustained while serving so having a SSB is a big deal for me.I tried to return the bar but the seller would not cover shipping and did not respond to messages asking for assistance with the return. The fact that the seller did not respond really soured me ordering anything from NY Barbell again. I know a lot of people in the strength world and have never had this kind of issue with an equipment seller before. Very disappointed.

All I can say is WOW!!..lol..This bar is amazing! Everything from the quality of the bar to the speedy handling process, I've got nothing but great things to say. Definitely the best bang for your buck on a safety squat bar. The bar is extremely well constructed, great finish, the sleeves rotate, pads are dense, handles feel great, and the bar weighs near 70lbs!! Awesome awesome bar!
