The best way to use this is to make the patties using 6" parchment circles (available on Amazon) between the patties, then store them in freezer rated zip bags. The parchment makes separating and handling the patties easy. I make patties from a large pack of ground meat at once and freeze the whole batch and thaw as needed. **Q: what is the diameter of the burger right out of the press, Can You measure it for me Thanks** A: The diameter is 4 and 6/10 inches. So it is a little over 4 and one half inches. If you make a dimple in the middle it doesn't shrink. I like a thicker burger, so I don't use the dimple maker that comes with the press. I can easily make half pound burgers with this press and then make a dimple in the middle and grill it! I use it all the time and it should last many years. Very well made! **Q: how do I measure 1/3 pound burger (with only 1/4 lb. measure cup)??** A: There are 1/4 and 1/3 pound burger measurement markings on the side. The 1/4 cup measuring cup is so you don't have to handle the raw meat with your hands. It's not intended to be an absolute measurement for the 1/3 pound burger, although its portion does equate to a 1/4 cup burger. You can measure a scoop and a half for the 1/3 pound burger. I have had one of these for years and it works great. I just bought this one as a gift for a friend and was surprised that they have cut a few corners in this newer version. With ours, the separators are thicker, more durable. The plastic is clear and thick. The red top/bottom are rubber and seal up well. The newer one has a more milky plastic and the red top/bottom is plastic and doesn't seal up as well.
