Contemporary filmmakers and animation artists in films like Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I (D: David Yates, GB/USA 2010) or Tales of the Night (D: Michel Ocelot, F 2011) are inspired by her for a new examination of the silhouette film and the shadow theater, whose development has been decisively advanced by the woman from Berlin. Starting point for the film was the extensive legacy of the filmmaker at the City Museum of Tuebingen. Lotte Reiniger spent her last year of life in Dettenhausen near Tuebingen, where she is also buried. The search starts therefore in Tuebingen, to then sweep into the distance, to Berlin and London, the important destinations in her life. The central topics of the film are imagination, movement and dance, ornament and music of the magical films by Lotte Reiniger. Animation artists and filmmakers such as Hannes Rall and Michel Ocelot were interviewed and tell about Lotte Reiniger's influence on their own films.
