Werner MT 26 Ladder
Let me start by saying that this ladder is well designed for simplicity of use. I found the ladder to be ideal for me because it can get as long as 26 feet which allows me to reach the top of my houses gable ends (highest point from the ground), yet when it is reduced to its smallest size it is only about 6 feet tall, so I can easily get it into my shed. My first use of the ladder I maxed it out at 26 feet and it worked like a charm. I also used it as an extra tall step ladder and again fantastic. My general take on the ladder is that it is very good for me. It makes me a little nervous relying on the pins that hold the hinge and the telescoping pieces in place but its rated for 300lbs, I'm 6'1" and weigh 250lbs and I had it held me up with no problem. However, there are some aspects of the ladder that some people may not consider and should before buying it. I would call them negatives but they are aspects of the ladder that make it different from an extension ladder. First, it's heavy, now a 26 foot extension ladder is heavy too, but this ladder looks little and when you go to pick it up it surprises you. Second, to get the full lenght of the ladder you have to unfold it, then telescope the ends outward. How would you do this? With the ladder laying on the ground, which means you need three things, the space to expand it, clearance overhead between where you open it to length and where you use it. Third, the strength to flip the 26 foot extended ladder up and then over to where you intend to use it. Unlike an extension ladder which you can set in place, pull the rope and extend it to height, if you put this ladder in place and try to telescope it you will have two problems, first, you can only telescope from the bottom because the top is beyond your reach; second, you need to be strong to balance the ladder upright, then hold the base down while telescoping the middle piece upward and they lock the pin in place. That's why the manufacturer recommends telescoping the top and bottom while the ladder is laying on the ground. The other concern with telescoping while the ladder is upright is that there is a pinch hazard because the center of the ladder slides up and down and gravity likes to bring it down on your arms or fingers when you are trying to hold it and push it up. Lastly, though it is compact it is heavy and deep so storage can be an issue because you need to mount your bracket very robustly to a wall and secondly the typical ladder holding bracket will not be deep enough to hook the 4-deep steps of the folded ladder. Again, I love this ladder because I don't have a pickup truck to haul an extension ladder and I don't have an indoor space to store an extension ladder. Also, this ladder can do stuff no extension ladder and most step ladders can't do either like seperate into two step ladders allowing you to use it like a scaffold, serving as an 11 ft step ladder, and having different front and back leg heights to work on steps or uneven surfaces. Hope this was helpful.

MT-26 --> Built like a rock...litterally!
Werner is one of the few names I'll trust my life to enough to step 20' off the ground on their products. This is their rendition of the popular gorilla ladders. I've had mine for about a year now and overall I'm very pleased with my purchase. They say you can't buy one tool for every job... This ladder proves and disproves that concept.One ladder to do it all. Buy one ladder and you've got a Super Duty double step ladder safe enough for two grown men to stand on. You've got a 26' extension ladder. And lastly you have the flexibility of a stair ladder. For the price there's no excuse for every American home owner not to have one in their garage. But as I eluded to above, there are down sides. Three that I've found anyway. First) The weight... When you standing on it, it's a brick house...solid as a rock... When you're carrying it around, it's brick house...heavy as a boulder... At nearly 70lbs this is not a typical aluminum step ladder. Unfold it and use it as an extension that weight is compounded by the additional length. It is a real chore to extend it and retract it. Easiest way is to unfold it, extend what will be the top side, stand it vertical where you plan to work, and extend the bottom. This is still not an easy feat and you need to be extra careful of your fingers. With this much weight, it you let go it could chop them clean off. Safest way is to fully extend it on the ground and walk the ladder up but this will require two people. Second Issue) The J-hooks. I had to send my first one back because one was damaged in shipping. These are the Achilles heal of the MT series. Be cautious not to hit them against anything as I fear the plastic housing that encases them will break. Finally) returning to extension mode, since this is not a rigid beam construction setup found on modern extension ladders, there is a noticeable flex in the middle. It's unnerving at first but I found after a time I got used to it. Still the first time you pass that middle locking pivot, you say a little prayer that the guy on the line that day at Werner had his coffee that morning.Aside from the downsides listed above, there is nothing else not to like about this ladder. The 26' version yields an excellent working height range as an A-frame. And as an extension (while not the first ladder I would grab if given the choice) it has enough reach to get a grown man to the gutter level of just about any two story built on level ground. As I said about, this is a must for all homeowners. One final word of caution, this is an aluminum ladder and as such it will conduct electricity very well! Don't perform electrical work from this ladder and stay clear of the power lines!

High Praise Without The High Price
First..... Yes, it is heavy.90% of the reviews I read before buying, said it was, and it is.If 63 pounds is too heavy for you to lift, you probably shouldn't be climbing a ladder, anyway.I found the Werner 26' Multi-Ladder to be a very equatible and cost effective alternative to "The Little Giant".I really like The quailty of the "patented", (and then Chinese duplicated), locking hinge pin.That is the key feature that makes The Werner, and the more expensive, (and lighter), American counterpart, unique.This feature allows you to create many different configurations.I have used several configurations, already.It can be used as a conventional two sided stepladder; a telescoping ladder, or scaffolding braces.Or, one side can be locked in a vertical position, and the other side can be adjusted to let you access a wall, or window sill.It seems very stable because of the flared bottom.I've had my Werner Ladder for about a month, and I've used it 3 times.I'd say I'm very comfortable with the stability, safety and reliability of my Werner 26' foot Multi-Ladder.I would definitely recommend it to someone looking for this type of ladder without paying a high price.There is one "Caveat", and that is...... There is a danger to your fingers.If you aren't careful when extending or retracting this ladder, you could injure yourself. So, BE CAREFUL!Other than that, There is no reason you shouldn't find this to be a great product at a great price. I probably saved $500 by buying this brand, and that makes me happy.If saving $500 bucks makes you happy too, then buy this ladder!

Fast shipping and excellent packaging. The Leatherman tool feels very premium and sturdy.
The new MT series from Werner combines the durability of a heavy duty type 1A, 300 pound duty rating with true versatility. A single ladder can be easily converted to a double sided stepladder of variable heights or an adjustable extension ladder. When set up as a stepladder the duty rating of 300 pounds is per side to allow two people on the ladder at the same time. Height is adjusted quickly with spring loaded \"J\" Locks. Steps are double riveted and the side rails are smooth and curved for comfort.
