These glasses are pretty good but there are some draw backs
These glasses are pretty good but there are some draw backs. I purchased them to video flying aircraft at air shows and RC events. The video is very good probably on par with the most any of the small HD video cameras like the Mobius or Drift and maybe the GoPro. The concept is really good and the glasses fit my head OK. Found that I could use them for several hours without any discomfort. They are also very nice looking. Some other glasses look to goofy. I wish they had some stabilization built in. You have to practice some if you want good video. The real problems had to do with focus issues. It has three focus options Auto, Fixed, and Micro. Auto focus will constantly "hunt" for the correct focus when videoing objects that change their distance from you. While large slow moving objects are no problem, small flying airplanes are a different story. You see this focus issue all the time when someone is videoing an air show. Small target that moves a lot, BAD. With these glasses the "Fixed" focus option works by looking at the object and then turning on the camera. It really doesn't work. It still goes in and out of focus, just not as bad. Everyone knows what the Micro is. What Pivothead should do is add another option, "Infinity" focus although I'm not sure if it is possible with this set of electronics. The Mobius camera, I have several of these, has no focus option or problems with focusing. It will focus to infinity. Everything is in focus and it works very well. I wish it had more than 8gigs of memory. Probably not that big of an issue because the battery will die just about the time the memory is full BUT if you had a 32gig memory you could put an external battery in your shirt pocket and record all day. I also had a problem with the glasses holding all the settings that are uploaded to the glasses using the software. Just toooo buggy and could not count on getting the type of video I wanted. Last but not least, the camera finally died after about 5 hours of use. It doesn't take too much searching to find other people that had their glasses die. Again I think Pivothead has a great idea but they need to work out some bugs and I would gladly try them again. I did look at the other manufactures glasses but the main difference is the type of video they record. Most will not record at 60 fps, and that's important if you are videoing fast moving action and many don't record the video in MOV format which is probably the best compression you can get. So here is the list of desired changes: 1) Infinity focus option. 2) Video stabilization. 3) Built-in 32gig memory regardless of battery life. 4) Work on the software issues. 5) Would someone please allow the 1080p to record at 60fps. 6) Allow the 720 to record in 60fps AND 120fps. 7) Allow me to purchase them!!
