I grew up with real trees my whole life but since getting pets, I’m wary of them drinking the water in the base, so I opted for artificial. I did lots of research. I originally wanted one from King of Christmas or Balsam Hill but could not stomach the price. (even if the tree lasts 10-15 years, it’s still too much money, IMO) I found National Tree’s website and liked the price and the good reviews. At the last minute, I checked desertcart to compare prices, and desertcart was a decent bit cheaper. All in all, I’d say it looks pretty realistic. I was expecting the worst and was pleasantly surprised. However, fluffing was an ordeal. Set aside about 2 hours if doing it by yourself. I think 3 or 4 rows of limbs have actual clusters of branches. Each cluster on each row has 3 separate branches. Make sure you bend them off to the side and then fluff them. I was afraid I was going to break the branch, but realized that’s how you’re supposed to do it. Doing this will help fill the holes. How to fluff? Separate all branches like a star or a fan. Almost none of my branches are facing straight. And don’t forget the little ones next to the column! They will help conceal bare spots. Make sure all branches are separated from one another, none should be touching. You get to make the tree how you want it to look, so have fun with it. If none of this helps, google how to fluff a tree. There are lots of videos, tips and tricks out there. Additional thoughts: You will lose a lot of needles. This is inevitable. You have to buy your own, which is better, because the lights in prelit trees only go out. **Q: Does this tree have individual branches to put on? or does it hinge? I never had a hinge tree, thanks.** A: It is a hinged tree. It has a TON of branches that split into smaller branches. I usually put in the bottom section and straighten all of the branches before moving on to the next section. This makes assembly easier. **Q: We want a tall and wide based tree. Not skinny. It's hard for me to envision 66" diameter-can only do it with a tape measure-so would it be like that?** A: My husband built a 3 1/2' X 4' base to set it up on and the branches go over the edges of this base on all sides. Very realistic and after many hours of fluffing, it looks beautiful. I managed to score a 7.5’ one that was used- like new for about half of the price ~$180. I highly recommend to keep an eye out for those deals if you’re on a budget or just want to save a bit. I’m not well versed in Christmas trees, nor rich enough to know the differences, but I do think that the quality equates the price. The tree is a realistic green, fresh, and after shaping- super fluffy. It is big in width, which is exactly what I wanted. It didn’t shed at all either! This has held up wonderfully, and I am very happy to have got the price that I did. But, if you’re willing to splurge, I think it’s worth it.
