Chromatek is the set of glitter gel pens to buy: Excellent quality on all counts
Seeking activities to share with my 7-year-old during the 2020 lockdown, I have tried probably every gel pen available on the market: Sakura Gelly Roll, G2, Ink Joy, Slicci, Energel, Sparkle Pop, Zebra, Office Goods, Fiskars, ColorIt, Aen Art, Color Technik, Reaeon, Super Doodle, Crayola, Xuixua, etc. If you want to color with gel pens, Chromatek is the set to buy.Anyone who uses gel pens regularly has probably discovered that all of the large sets have nearly identical barrels, pigments, ink cartridges, 0.8-1.0 mm bold tips, and performance - they're all manufactured in the same region and probably the same factories in China. There are a few variable features competing distributors can choose from: the packaging, which specific colors to include, inclusion of a comfort grip and/or color codes on the barrel or cap, and whether refill packs are sold with the set and sold separately. The other variable which affects each brand is how long the pens are stored and whether they're stored and shipped properly. Gel ink is water-based and can dry out or degrade over time. Gel ink cartridges are sensitive to impacts like dropping and can develop air bubbles - if there are air bubbles in the ink cartridge, the pen won't work. There are a few higher-end gel pen sets available, such as Pentel Sparkle Pop and Gelly Roll, which have larger-capacity ink cartridges and tighter quality control than the large gel pen sets but the color selection is very limited with these brands. The best choices I've found for coloring are the packs of 50+ colors. These all have apparently identical housing and ink cartridges. Brands with refills included or zipper pen cases are marked up accordingly, but the performance of the pens tends to be the same: the ink will run out more quickly than markers or other coloring media, so pens without separate refill packs aren't worth it. Improperly stored pens will skip or fail to start - tapping the pen tip can help, and typically one or two pens need to be tapped in a set, but if more than a few pens don't start, the set is probably dried out. Pens with "neon" shades, particularly light greens and yellows, are often scratchier or don't work - there's something about inks made with these pigments which prevent them from flowing well. Pens sets which include a lot of these colors tend to yield a frustrating coloring experience.Several of the sets I've purchased were sent back because too many pens simply didn't work. The Chromatek set is the only one I've bought in which every single pen worked beautifully right out of the package. The colors selected are vivid and beautiful, and the ink flows freely. A refill set is included with the pens, and additional refills are available separately. The packaging is very functional and affordable, and actually works better than higher-end pen cases. As with every one of these pen sets, a few pens have plastic barrel and cap colors which don't match the ink exactly. With a clear plastic package and clear barrels, this isn't a problem - you just need to train your eye to look at the ink cartridge rather than the plastic barrel to choose your color. You can also easily make and insert a swatch chart right inside the packaging (pictured above).Chromatek nails it on all the optional features important to a set of gel pens: beautiful vibrant colors, pens that work right out of the package, reasonably priced with functional packaging, comfort grips and color codes on the barrel, and refills available separately and included with the set. These are the pens to buy.

Shimmery
I love love love these gel pens They are so Shimmery I use other glitter gel pens, and they’re not even close to how amazing these are. It dries quickly. Great value for the money and the pen they give you a lot of the pens and the refills too. Definitely worth it for the price. There’s so shimmer and glittery and sparkly. They’re amazing.

Worth It!
So...I love these pens. They’re smooth as silk, they don’t make that ‘scratchy’ sound when you color- the ink flows freely.Until...You start running low on ink. If you look at the pic, the Chromatek ink tends to stick to the inside of the ink tube as it ‘drains’. The Aen Art pen has a clean tube, which indicates that ALL the ink has run out.The bottom line? Shaking the pen to try and move the excess ink to the tip is a pain in the arse. But the awesome colors and the smooth feel of the pen as you write make it a bit more bearable. The refills are great- clearly marked so it’s easy to replace with the correct color and keep moving.Would I recommend Aen Art pens (also available on Amazon) instead? It’s a bit of ‘apples vs. oranges’. I purchased the Chromatek because I’m partial to glitter pens, while the Aen Art pens have metallic, glitter and neon pens. I do like both brands- neither smears and the colors are vibrant.*The third brand I’ve tried are the GelWriters from Costco. They DO smear a bit, but you get a really nice array of colors. The ink seems to run out more quickly, though.I also recommend the SouthSun 100 refill pack of glitter ink (from Amazon). I use them to replace my Aen Art and GlitterWriter ink.

Sparkly beautiful colors that don't fade!
Being relatively new to adult coloring I am still exploring ways to enhance this stress-and boredom-relieving activity. Most notably feeding my glitter gel pen addiction. I have found that for whatever reason glitter gel pens make me feel like a little girl again. After reading lots of reviews on lots of different glitter gel pens I decided to try Chromatek. I ordered the Chromatek 30 color refills instead of 30 pens for several reasons. Here's my top 3. First was cost. For a few bucks more I could get 100 different colored glitter gel pens from my favorite (so far) Aen Art. Second, Chromatek 30 glitter gel pens comes with 30 pens and 30 refills and I saw no need to pay for duplicates of pens that I was buying on speculation. Third, thanks to Amazon customer reviews that are loaded with tips and tricks, I have been saving my empty pen barrels for just this type of occasion. Gel pen ink 'tubes' seem to be about the same size and since the barrels are clear plastic I can see the general ink color I want to use. Now for the review. Wow! I absolutley love these Chromatek 30 glitter gel pens refills! The colors are vibrant, shiny, and super juicy! 29 out of the 30 pen refills laid down an awesome amount of ink with no scratching or skips straight out of the box. The gold color seems scratchy and the ink seems a bit chalky compared to the other pens in this set. The blue colors are just incredibly bright and my new favorite colors!Considering all of the problems I have read about folks having with different brands of gel pens having only one pen out of 30 be less than perfect isn't too bad. I am also impressed that these colors don't fade or change after they are dry and the glitter is amazing. I have ordered the Chromatek 50 glitter pen set with 50 refills. I only wish they had the variety of colors that AenArt offers but I will take what I can get.

Excellent quality and value!
Will be purchasing these pens again. Really like that they came with refills. Smooth and glittery flow. Best variety of colors I have ever seen in one kit. Very good price compared to other glitter pens out there. Would highly recommend. You won’t be disappointed.
