I did not know how at first because the safe seemed perfectly undamaged. It became obvious once I looked on the internet on how to steal from a depository safe. Look up mailbox fishing. Basically put duct tape to a string and pull the items out. Our old Barska safe had such a big gap I was able to pull things out in less than a minute. Took me awhile to get the string and get the tape but once I had it going it took seconds. Now forward to the Viking box. Biggest reason why I bought it was because it's supposed to have the best anti-fishing design on the market. I was skeptical at first but the results were great! As soon as I got it, I did the same test I did for the Barska depository safe. Although I was able to get the tape and string into the safe, every time I tried to pull something out it would be yanked back in! No more fishing! The safe seems pretty heavy duty. It's not a vault by any stretch but it gets the job done. It has some nice extra features like a spring opening door. Ability to have a master code was also important so I can let employees open safe but they can never lock us out if they try. Clean and Simple design *by K***K on November 15, 2018* I actually bought this VS-40DS depository model out of curiosity and because I like how it looked on the outside. Very clean and simple design. Pleasant color combination. Once I've got the safe, I was pleasantly surprised how well made it is as well. Walls and the door are very heavy. Bolts are moving fast to lock and unlock. The keypad is actually made of aluminum, NOT plastic. Buttons are easy to press. Blue lit screen is convenient to see. At first I did not pay attention to the improvements on the anti-fishing design this model has, but then I compared it to my main depository safe and the difference is significant. Viking model makes the content untouchable after depositing. I still had to bolt it down of course with the mounting hardware provided and the pre-drilled holes made it an easy job. The override key - OMG, this is an old fashion, tough boy. It has 2 bits, pointing in opposite directions. It is like 2 keys working together. It has nothing to do with the any safe keys I've seen. I don't need to use it much, but it gives me a piece of mind that the safe cannot be open with a paper clip as other safes. Shortly, this safe became our default depository safe for the company. I don't even use the other one anymore.
