Totally a beast....... better than most of the expensive capture cards.
This is totally a beast. I love it because of the SD card feature. There is no difference in quality if you record videos using PC or SD card. Apart from that it is very easy to use. I got it within 1 day after placing the order. If you want to record your games then just go for it. This one is cheap and also provides lots of extra features. Here is my video just check it out. Everything is good..excep random disconnection
Everything is good... except the manual which has very less information and also while recording there is no display to know whether its recording or not....no time/remaining time indicator is seen on the screen so you just have to trust your judgement. Fast/slow recording works good but there is no indicator so...if in case you forget after switching fast/slow recording then the whole video will be fast or slow. In short the quality is excellent however, the interface is non user friendly. I hope they update the software soon. Also one thing I am missing is audio out....there is just audio in (componant) & HDMI in and out...but you cannot connect external speakers to it. If these things would have been taken care off... it would be 5 on 5. Remote is good build and works perfect. Delivery was timely.

USB Transfer is slow and has delay.
Not working as expected. This device has a serious flaw. If you connect it through USB, it will give a significant delay and transfer your video from HDMI to PC with about 500ms to 1s of delay. The delay enhances further. Don't go for it.

Awesome.
Thanks a lots. Exactly what I needed. Every detail written on the description is true. Output to SD Card is really 1080p/30fps. No lag. Just awesome. Best capture device ever.

Go for it if you want to record TV shows
If you want to record TV programs then this is the one you need. Works perfectly with my current DTH provider. However HDCP content can not be recorded.Bundled application is nice and if it would have been better if the app also has palyback on mobile feature.

Perfect product
I bought this to capture my Video conferences which we generally do with Logitech Lifecam, This is perfect suit for recording all conferences. Very much satisfied with performance.Cons:There is lagging in recording when connected using computer. But independently without computer mode working excellent.

Important SD card compatability info. Could save you money.
The Avermedia LGP is now quite an old product and I have frequently seen reports on the Internet about problems people are having getting PC Free mode to work. This is most frequently due to the end-user trying to use a more modern SD card format than the LGP can handle. Save your money and don't experiment with expensive high capacity SD cards - they will not work. Please note the following comments are exclusively for the LGP C875 model and are probably not directly applicable to more recent products such as the LGP 2 or later. I use a Windows 10 Pro laptop and the Avermedia provided RECentral software and drivers. Don't try to use later versions from the website which are meant for more up-to-date products. Just use the latest versions available for the C875 model on avermedia.com. I can't comment on Mac usage or problems.1. The SD card MUST be FAT32 formatted. The LGP won't work if the SD card is NTFS or exFAT formatted.2. The SD card must be Class 10 to be fast enough for 1080 capture. Note in PC free mode the maximum capture frame rate is 30fps, while in PC mode it is 60 fps. I successfully use U3 cards, but I haven't tried a U1 card.3. The SD card ***MUST*** be SDHC and NOT SDXC. This limits you to a maximum SD card size of 32GB which is a limitation of the FAT32 format.. The card suggested below comes pre-formatted as FAT32, but the Windows 10 format utility can be used with it to reformat it as FAT32 afresh.4. In PC Free mode the maximum file size that can be saved on the SD card is 4GB. When the capture reaches this size a new capture file is opened and so on and so forth. until you stop the capture or you run out of SD card space. These files are saved in .ts format which can be problematic for some popular video editors. I use TMPGenc Smart Video Render v5 which reads and converts these files directly. If saved to .mp4 format the converted files contain "openGOP" which means some video players cannot handle them. Instead I convert my combined .ts files to a final .mkv format rather than mp4. There is a .ts to .mp4 conversion utility for your PC Free clips provided by Avermedia - look in C:\Program Files (x86)\AVerMedia\TS-to-MP4 Utility.5. It is possible to adjust the PC Free capture settings using a utility on your PC. It is not well publicised. Find the utility in C:\Program Files (x86)\AVerMedia\AVerMedia PC-Free Utility. Connect the LGP to your PC, run the utility, then set up the LGP for PC Free mode.6. You cannot capture an HDCP copy protected stream with an LGP alone. The maximum resolution of an LGP capture is 1080 - you need a later device to capture 4K or UHD.7. I cannot quote the URL for Avermedia here but technical information is available there.8. I have successfully used this SD card with the LGP C875 :SanDisk Extreme 32GB SDHC Memory Card up to 90MB/s, Class 10, U3, V30.

It's not the panacea
The Good:It allows PC-Free recording. As I bought it for recording my Raspberry Pi terminal, it is perfect for me.USB Powered: just connect it to a computer or any USB port and it works. It is very small, thus, you can take it anywhere. The Bad:Its instruction is deplorable. I got a red light. What does it mean? After researching on the web the conclusion was that the micro sdcard was slow. And yes, that was the issue. But how would you know with just a red light? Its Mac-software worth nothing. For recording the screen only you have the PC-free mode. For recording Screen+Camera is deplorable (remember, I'm not recording a game, just a Raspberry PI console), the screen records so slow. Beside that it hangs a lot, consume too much CPU.Their website is deplorable as well, no easy to understand or to be confident of how to use it.The Ugly:USB 2.0, it is not USB 3.0Conclusion: With a one third of the price you get the same conclusion. I swear I was about to return it.UPDATE: Had to remove 1 more star as many times it doesn't record the screen, only the audio, therefore you might need to record everything again and again. Very disappointed.

Good product but...
This capture card is very small and lightweight probably about or just smaller than the original wii. It takes a usb stick or a 2.5" hard drive in the bottom to record onto. It has a hdmi pass through on the back so a hdmi source in and out as well as a composite input (output uses the hdmi)The bad point is if you live in the uk and trying to use the composite to record lets say gamecube gameplay it will show up in black and white, it doesnt handle a PAL connections well so you need a av to hdmi adaptor to change the signal output. They cost around a tenner on here, then you are good to go.Recording is simple with the remote and snapshots easily taken and quality can be adjusted in the menus. One other thing it has a watermark set by default which can be turned off in the settings.

Saving you some googling...
Card arrived last night and I gave it a test with my Xbox One. As some other's have stated, the documentation is pretty threadbare. A couple of quick points:1. The device powers over USB. Find an available port on your console, amp, or a USB/Mains adapter and you're good to go.2. The device outputs ***.ts file format in PC free mode (which is the only mode I use). Sony Vegas will not work with this natively, but Adobe Premiere will. For Vegas enthusiasts you'll find the vendors tool to convert the files to MPG4 here - https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/avermedia/web_release_www/C875/C875_utility_20140319.zipLast point on this device. The literature for it said that is records mpg4 files, yet Vegas see's the files as an mpg2 transport stream. I haven't looked into this further yet but my guess is this is just Vegas struggling to work with the native files. The resolution is still 720p and 29.97fps. Be advised this will EAT your SD card space. 25 mins of footage took approx 2.8Gb. I have a panasonic AG-HMC-151E camera, which captures 1080 video using AVCHD encoding, and that seems kinder on the disk space. That said - the quality of footage from this device is great and, providing the device is reliable and doesn't blow up anytime soon, I'd certainly recommend it. Just be sure to buy a large class 10 SD card. Great quality footage without the need for a PC for capture.

it may work fine for pcs
The device works and can be running without any crashes on a macbook touchbar 15" 2017 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 model, the trouble is if trying to connect a console to it, say the nintendo switch, there seems to be a 1-2 second lag issue, despite running OBS software which picks up the recentral lag issue..including tweaking settings to all choices.. havent tried this thru a television, as i intended to use it for online streaming.. anyone looking to buy this, i'd do some reading up thoroughly, it may work fine for pcs. but macs it has a lag issue. else id try a different model, hope this helps.Update: managed to find a pc with windows to try, it worked fine after a long install ie other things needed to install alongside OBS. but the avermedia software worked flawlessly. as did the card. recorrecting my star review. just a shame mac doesnt work so well thru usb2. as the pc did it fine. and both machines are powerful as each other.
