.com The title film in this two-pack set provides a fresh take on learning the alphabet, starring the perennially favorite Purple Wonder. The show is set in an after-school learning center, where Linda and friends are reviewing the letters A to Z as Barney magically appears to energize the lessons. As Barney oozes with enthusiasm, viewers will build their letter-recognition skills with a Name That Letter game show and eight lively musical numbers providing lots of imitative fun for youngsters. Don't expect an in-depth phonics lesson here--the focus is on naming letters rather than learning their sounds, which means the 30-minute program plays to a limited audience of 2- to 4-year-olds. For them, it is an engaging and upbeat program, culled from favorite Barney and Friends television episodes. The set's bonus film is Howdy, Friends! featuring a half-hour of music, dance, stories, and games that bring to life cowboys and cowgirls (and "cowsquirrels"!) of the Wild West. The program begins with a fashion hoedown where viewers learn that cowboy hats, bandanas, chaps, and boots are worn for more than decorum. Then it's off to the corral to ride horses and feast on some authentic chuck wagon grub. On the Adventure Screen, viewers will see live-action footage of actual working cowboys on cattle drives and riding rodeo. Classic tunes like "Turkey in the Straw" and "Old Dan Tucker" are capped with a special visit from Riders in the Sky, a cowboy band that performs fiddling and yodeling favorites. More informative and less cutesy than standard Barney fare, this program will appeal to older audiences as well. (Ages 2 to 6) --Lynn Gibson From the Back Cover : Linda is learning the alphabet...with a little help from Barney, her friends, and her big brother Chip. Chip sets out to help Linda learn the letters in her name while Barney and the kids discover other fun ways to learn the letters of the alphabet. My cosuin didn’t like this one
My cousin loves all Barney DVDs , but this one did not hold her attention at all. The songs might be great for some children, but she wants to play. When we put this video in, she asks for her other Barney DVDs

We love our ABC's!
My daghter is two years old and she can watch the Barney ABC video over and over again. In fact I think its a bit addictive. It has great educational value and she can now sing the ABC song. The focus is on the letters not on words or sounds which is great for a two year old. She doesnt love the "Howdy friends" video as much, She doesnt quite get the wild west concept, However the package was worth it for the ABC video.

Review alphabet
This video is very educational and reviews A-Z alphabet while most Barney video are fun play. This video is exactly what I wanted.(fun and study alphabet and word) My 4 year old boy enjoys this videos and I recommand this video for 3-6 year children who know and like Barney. However, I do not recommand it for first Barney Video. Kipper is also very interesting and I enjoyed it very much as well as my boy.
