Overall a good product. The limitation of 16 characters for the password is a bit limiting. Using a password that small for AES-256 is a bit like putting a steel door on a tent. With that strength AES-128 would have been fine. I look forward to an update where they expand this limitation because it really is the best out there.

So far so good. I bought this to keep some sensitive files in offline storage and wanted a medium that was encrypted should I lose it (not that I intend to transport or use it frequently).It came formatted Fat32 which I changed to ExFat. It was a little odd how it works, but after a quick google and checking their site I had figured it out.Once plugged in it shows as a DVD drive. You "run" it just like a DVD and then a small program opens and guides the setup process. It allows setting up the security and then after finalizing the settings it then shows in Windows file explorer as a USB drive (the DVD part remains). At this point you drag and drop/copy files over just like any other USB drive.When plugging it back in later you run the DVD portion again to enter the password to "unlock" the USB storage. A little clunky, but if you use it as a place for long term storage its likely a non issue. I would presume other devices like this work in a similar fashion but do not know.Also seems well made, a metal body I think with some heft to it. Did not do any extensive testing of read/write speeds but it really isnt made for speed, its made for security. Id recommend it for the same purpose I use it for.

Great product but cheap plastic cap. I would have expected a quality cap for the price and for protection of the usb connector.

Just what I needed. After losing a thumb drive without any security on it...I was devestated and panicked. Fortunately a good samaritan turned it in at my parking garage. After leaving a heartfelt thank you note for the good samaritan (and some cash) with th attendant, I invested in the Data Traveler. Costly, but worth the peace of mind. It is on my lanyard around my neck with my security ID. It goes from worksite to worksite without any issues logging into the security password which is installed ON THE DRIVE and not on the computer. I carry my work and personal informatino with a little more ease.

Caused problems with all the other usb ports.

Encryption software is a little clunky, but it works as advertised.

New Firmware update makes this a spectacular product again!!!Firmware has not been updated yet for OS X El Capitan 10.11, so the USB drive JUST DOESN'T WORK anymore. Worked great on Yosemite.

feels heavy, does not feel cheap. password required to log in. suprised these marketing company market a 14.2gb as 16gb. love the cap can be atatched to end of usb.

Möchte hier dem ersten Renzensenten widersprechen: der DataTraveler 4000 G2 kann sehr wohl schreibgeschützt geöffnet werden. Dazu einfach im Anmeldeprogramm das entsprechende Häkchen setzen, und schon ist der Stick read-only und vor schreibendem Zugriff sicher (getestet, funktioniert, siehe beigefügter Screenshot unter Win 10 Pro). Um ein Haar hätte mich die erste Rezension vom Kauf abgehalten, da das eine sehr nützliche Funktion ist. Letztendlich habe ich diesen neuen Stick aber auch dem Vorgängermodell vorgezogen weil er FIPS 140-2 Level 3 zertifiziert ist, was wohl die höchste noch bezahlbare Sicherheitsstufe ist. Außerdem ist er als USB 3.0 Stick angenehm schnell, ich möchte nicht mit den lahmen 7MB/s anderer Sticks unterwegs sein.Vier Sterne gibts, weil der Stick doch überraschend schwer und massiv ist. Das ist erst einmal angenehm, weil es sich solide anfühlt und dem Gewicht von Metallgehäuse, Stahl-Innenmantel und Vergußmasse (für FIPS 140-2 Level 3 notwendig) zu verdanken ist, nach ein Paar Tagen in Hosen-/Hemdtasche wünscht man sich aber eine etwas leichtere Ausführung...Raucher dürften sich an ein metallenes Feuerzeug erinnert fühlen :-)Funktional gibts nichts dran auszusetzen, die Login-Software funktioniert unter Win 7/8/10, Mac OS X 10.9 und Linux(!), eine gute Beschreibung ist auf dem Stick unlöschbar abgelegt. Eine Nachricht für Finder läßt sich hinterlegen, was will man mehr.Dieser Stick nimmt einem das unangenehme Gefühl eine riesige Menge an Daten (8GB sind eine Menge Dokumente, Fotos, Scans...) ungeschützt mit sich herumzutragen - denn denkbare Brute Force Attacken wie bei Keepass oder anderer Crypto-Software sind hier sinnlos, nach dem zehntern Versuch ist 'Schicht im Schacht'. Außer für 'drei-Buchstaben-Organisationen' dürfte es technisch unmöglich sein, ohne Passwort an die Daten auf dem Stick zu kommen.Bin insgesamt sehr zufrieden. Der hohe Preis ist durch den technischen Aufwand wohl gerechtfertigt, auch die Zertifizierungskosten für FIPS 140-2 sind sehr hoch und zuguterletzt ist der Stick nicht aus chinesischer sondern US-amerikanischer Fertigung.

Ich bin Besucher von einigen Foren, habe Accounts bei Amazon, Google, um nur zwei zu erwähnwn. Ich habe Pins für Karten und mobile Geräte und und und. Und dann habe ich auch noch Passwörter, die per Zufallszahlen generiert wurden.Meine Lösung war es diese auf den Vorläufer dieses Sticks zu speichern und so sicher verschlüsselt zu haben.Leider läuft der Vorläufer nicht mehr unter Windows 10, also musstew ein Ersatz her.Dieser Stick funktioniert ohne Probleme unter Windows 10Er fühlt sich solide an.4GB Speicherplatz ist mehr als ich brauche, aber das ist OKSehr zu empfehlen
