Overall, great...
I think this was a great tent for the price. I like the ease of setup, bright vivid colors, ease of use, large vestibule, and rain fly that stretches nearly to the ground. The only thing I'm not quite sure about, is that the floor is made of the same material as the sides of the tent, which seems a little thin which could lead to punctures. However, we've used it twice with no holes, and I imagine after a few years of no holes this concern could vanish!!! While it is roomy for a 4 person family and fits us just right (2 adults and two kids), I think space would be tight with 6 full grown adults. Overall, I'm quite happy with this tent.

Impressed with performance
This is my first ever review on anything besides restaurants. However, after this past week I felt like I should share my camping experience. I took my 4 and 6 year old car camping on South Bass Island OH. We pitched the tent twenty yards from the coast cliff. The weather was comparable to monsoon like condition for 18 hours. Oddly enough, we enjoyed every minute. The Cottonwood was water tight, wind proof and extremely spacious. The vestibule served its purpose but do not expect 4 season coverage. Set-up was very easy but because of the height it helps to have a partner. For under $200 and the size I am not sure why there are not more positive reviews. If you need a family size tent with a rainfly that actually goes to the ground then go for it. Good luck and have fun.

The tent is cool, but the poles are terrible
At first glance, this appears to be a good tent. Spacious, fairly light and the vestibule is a nice perk. BUT, the poles suck. We returned one with a broken pole already thinking maybe it was just defective. Again because the tent got such good reviews. However, we are now trying to return the second tent after the pole broke yet again.

Great price for a great tent!
First family tent (and trip) so take this review with a grain of salt. Perfect for summer car camping. Not sure if we will camp in rainy weather but I’d imagine if set up properly, using an appropriate sized footprint, it would do well keeping the inside dry. Fairly easy to put up and fold away into the included bag. We did buy the aluminum v stakes to go with it. We fit a queen air matress, two twin mattress pads, and two duffle bags (total 2 adults, 2 x 9yo, and a 3yo). Since we didnt plan on spending any non sleeping time in the tent, it worked perfectly for us. When the kids are brave enough to use their own tent, it will feel more spacious! We bought this bc of the aluminum poles, which long term is better. You’re not going to find many 6p tents with aluminum poles at this price point (paid $160). Turns out it was a special production tent for a couple of online vendors. Happy we spent the money on this over the mass produced Colezarks :)

Outstanding product! Amazing customer service!
Got this tent for my brother and I to use while we go on our 1-2 week fishing trips and astrophotography trips. We needed something that was tough and waterproof and the Mountainsmith Cottonwood 6 more than delivers. The first time we took it out it rained cats and dogs for 3 days straight and the tent stayed dry as a bone. The 2nd time we used it was uneventful but the 3rd time we went out we were in the Arizona hi desert. For 4 days we had steady winds of 15-20mph and it stood strong. Unfortunately on the 4th day, and last day, winds were 25-30mph with 35-40mph gusts. this was a bit more than it could take and the two main poles bent but not even enough make the tent unusable. I got a hold of Mountainsmith and explained what happened and they 2 day shipped me brand new poles for free!! I love this tent and this company. My brother and I are headed out on another trip next week and the least of my worries is my Mountainsmith Tent.

Nice tent for the money.
This is a spacious tent with a nice alcove outside. The windows are nice for ventilation.

What’s not to like?
Quite possibly the best tent for under $200 on the market. The tent itself is well made and sturdy, but it’s the rainfly that is the standout. All the seams are taped, it goes almost all the way to the ground, there are large zippered flaps on three walls for great ventilation, and the awning over the door is large enough for a couple of chairs. And did I mention it is held up with aluminum poles? And the best part is that the whole shebang actually fits back in the bag without much trouble! A solid 5 stars!
