Cobra XRS 9345 14-Band Radar/Laser Detector with POP-Mode Radar Gun Detection and VG-2/Spectre Alert I Surveillance Immunity (Discontinued by Manufacturer)

I've owned a few radar detectors over the years, some worked well some didn't, either way I've still always nervously and constantly looked around for cops. I took at 1600 mile round trip vacation a week after I got my new Cobra. I started the same old way staring at every car, under bridges, behind bushes. Nothing. I was wondering if it was working, I'm used to my radars in the past beeping all the time, when nothings around. Then it beeped, faster and faster, the numbers escalated, and sure enough between some damn bushes, there was a trooper. Saved. A while later I heard some strange sound, slowed down, 10 seconds later, an unmarked trooper. This happened multiple times on the way. What I realized on the way back is that it doesnt beep at false alarms, it doesnt beep at anything other than cops with radar guns. I finally for the first time, was able to trust my Cobra, and enjoyed my trip and didn't have to sit with my eyes peeled to the road looking for cops. I actually completely stopped looking for cops and let me guard down, as the few more times it went off there was a cop within a mile or two away.Man... for less than $90, I feel like I bought the best detector on the market. A big thumbs up!

Regardless of if I'm in city of highway mode I tend to get a ton of false alerts. This is due to the town I stay in but I thought the city mode helped to eliminate this problem. The only regret I have for this purchase, aside from waiting soooo long to buy it, is that I didn't spend the little extra to get the upgraded model with voice alerts. My buddy has the one with GPS but he's not very happy with the GPS on it as it's too unspecific. He just uses his phone. However his notes when it has recurring false alerts and uses the GPS to remember them, thereby ignoring them after so many times. For the use they were both purchased for, they both do great. Mine has helped me to avoid at least 3-4 speeding tickets in the short time I've had it, maybe a month now. If you have a lead foot and don't need GPS, buy it the price is right and it functions perfectly aside from the false alerts that is lol!

I've had this Cobra for 9 months now and I feel like I know the product pretty well.For $60 you can't really complain. It's not a Valentine One but it gets the job done for me. It really only gives you a quarter of a mile to a half mile warning. If you hear it beeping at K1 or KA1 their could be police radaring you from behind. I've never had a signal stronger than 1 from behind.This radar does like to beep between K1 and K2 at door openers (frequently CVS).Once you learn how to read the signals and what the possibilities of each one are (depending on strength and type) it's a solid radar to have! Very happy with purchase. It's saved me about 3-4 times.Update 4/25/13: I turned off the POP mode as it goes off quite frequently and I never see any police. I highly recommend disabling X frequencies by putting reading the manual. It's very easy to do so.This thing has saved me 4 times in the last 2 months so I'm updating to say this thing is AWESOME. All 4 times I was going about 40 in a 30 mph zone with a 20 mph school zone approaching. Each time I was unable to contain my excitement, I was yelling "OH YEAH!!" after passing the cops because they were unable to get me speeding. I have gotten readings on the highway but I wasn't speeding as traffic slowed down enough to warn me there was something up ahead.One feature I've come to love is the mute button. In the second setting (pressing the mute button while no radar is being detected) it will cut the radar volume in half after 5 beeps. This is great when I have people in the car and they don't want to hear this thing beep. When I'm by myself I put it on the first setting so it beeps at a constant volume.Overall, on a budget this thing rocks. Gives you a heads up (not a terribly long one but definitely good enough) as to slow down. Would buy it again, unless I get the money for a V1.

I had to make an impromptu trip from OC California to Ohio and back. I had to decide whether to drive my older BMW or newer Toyota Avalon. I choose the BMW. Once I made that decision I realized I would need my radar detector. I searched for two days for my old detector, but could not find it anywhere. I read the reviews and decided on this particular Cobra.I had my car serviced and I immediately hit the road. The directions are informative, but a bit confusing. I set the detector up, and it alerted me numerous times in advance to slow down. The alerting beeps were easily heard and distinguished from the constant music being played. There were the expected false alert that could have meant the officer was cleverly hidden. I would have to occasionally slow down for a few miles and I am sure that saved me from a crafty officer.I was on the highway just before Christmas and it was alarming to see so many people getting tickets. If you are driving reckless of course you need to be stopped, while exceeding the speed limit a bit to get to family or friends is questionable.A lot of families holiday were ruined because of a speeding ticket. Fortunately that Cobra kept me from being one of them. The weather was so treacherous on the way back that I tip-toe home. I thought I was behaving and that Cobra still saved me a few times. I am not from Ohio, but I have numerous family members there. I will probably return this upcoming summer, and I will probably rely on that Cobra radar detector.

does not work to well ,tends to work after the speed trap rather than tell you its coming up ,so not to happy with this item
