Hagstrom HIII-ABE Retroscape Series HIII Aged Sky Blue

Really like this guitar. It's my first intermediate guitar, I've never had anything outside an off-brand stray rip-off and this is ultra nice. The main thing that stuck out to me after playing it for a while was how heavy and clear it was. It's tone doesn't give out that "tinnyness" and is nice and deep. Love it.

A reasonably high quality guitar. Low action strings (which i prefer) and of course sustain is diminished because of that. The switches are somewhat better than normal 3 to 5 way channel switchers because i always used to knock the normal ones around on accident while strumming. The shape is beautiful, the color is great, and the neck feels pretty nice. Definitely an important rock guitar here.

The guitar was unplayable upon receipt. The frets were uneven and required leveling all across the board. The truss rod needed adjusting. The intonation was poor. But worst of all was the plastic on the pick guard. The plastic was THICK and it was put on in such a way that it wrapped UNDER the pickups, so it was nearly impossible to completely remove. It took me an hour and I needed an exact-o knife to do it. I put at least 3-4 hours of work into making this guitar playable. Unacceptable. That said, once it was good to go, the guitar was a lot of fun to play. The pickups sound great and the neck is super fast. It stays in tune better than expected, too. But I do not recommend this guitar unless you’re looking for a project. I wasn’t.
