Continental 49123 Accu-Drive Pulley

My 2007 Explorer w/ 4.6 3V had suddenly developed a new noise which sounded like a power steering pump going bad or one with a bit of air in it. The sound was a little too consistent and not loud enough though. I removed the serpentine belt and spun each component. Everything was tight and smooth, except for this grooved idler pulley. After I removed the original and spun it on my finger, I could feel the defect- there was small bump every revolution- now multiply that by the RPM this thing spins and add way more pressure and you can see how it could produce this -almost- familiar noise. Continental replacement looks to be the exact OE type which came from the Ford factory. Same NSK bearing and everything- let's hope this one lasts longer than the original which only had 50K miles on it. Initial impression is that it's well made and solved the noise.

This is an excellent quality pulley, however it DOES NOT fit 2003-2004 Mercury Marauders! So for the 1000 or so of us that still have a Marauder, this is about an inch too large in diameter, and it will not let the belt pass by. Amazon's vehicle match tool is incorrect, as well as continental's website... Somebody messed up. Had to go to the auto parts store and buy the correct size, and return the 2 idler pulleys I bought on amazon. This also applies to the smooth pulley,  Continental Elite 49001 Accu-Drive Pulley , that one is also an inch in diameter larger than what the Marauder needs!

I put this on my Ford 5.4L Triton V8. This idler seems to be better quality than original Ford one as the original idler is made of a plastic material and this one is metal. My original idler had movement in it when you wiggle it. The new idler also has some loose motion in it; however, it is not significant so I assume this is normal.

Could not find a ford replacement for this pulley, so I ordered the Gatorback. I believe it is made better than the original. Ford uses bearings made in China and this one uses USA bearings. Really a quality pulley. If all the Gatorback products are made like this,next time I am ordering all Gatorback's

Used this pulley on my 2007 f150 and it fit and worked perfectly replaced my other pulley with a worn out bearing and made the annoying squealing noise go away.
