Start the truck with the A/C on and no more squeal! Ahhhhh Life is good once again!
Just installed this kit and it has solved my screeching GMC issue!I had a belt squeal that I had thought was an old belt, had a new belt installed by a mechanic and the issue was not solved. (You would think that an ASC certified mechanic would know that the tensioner on a truck with 170,000 miles on it, might be the cause, but he had no clue.So I looked into the problem, saw the videos, and ordered this kit on Amazon to install myself. As far as do it yourself auto repair projects go, this could not be much easier. One ratchet, two sockets, two bolts out, two bolts in.... Done.I did have some fitment issues with the new parts in that the replacement bolt that comes with the tensioner part is completely incorrect. Wrong length and wrong diameter. But the old bolt is just fine so I used it and problem solved. The idler comes with no attachment hardware, so you do have to knock the bolt out of your old idler (Held in by a retainer) and make sure that you keep the parts for use with the new idler. Once you have it all together it goes on in a Jiff!I do recommend you get this kit, as I thought all I needed was the tensioner but bought the kit as it was not that much more than the tensioner part alone and I am glad I did. The idler on my truck, while not wobbley was quite close to being a failure! Spinning it on it's own bearing after removal revealed a wicked gravelly noise! I was quite glad that I had ordered this full kit and even though my serpentine belt is practically new, I will keep the one that came with this kit as a roadside spare (Like good ole dad always did).

Not quite OE, but who cares?
It is exactly what you'd expect - a very, very close approximation of the factory serpentine belt & pulley system for a Vortec 350. The plastic on the idler pulley is slightly lower quality, the bearings are not quite as nice, and the casting on the tensioner rougher and less precise. But, hey, we're talking about 20 year old motors and parts that are half the price as OE - you just can't be mad at that. I gave this kit four stars due to less-than-OE quality, but would I buy this kit again instead of OE? Yeah, in a heartbeat.

1997 Chevy K3500 w/ Vortec 350 (5.7)
This kit has been in my truck for several months now (but only maybe a couple thousand miles), installed at the same time I had the alternator rebuilt. The alternator was the main issue, however the bearings on the idler and tensioner weren't doing that well either. Everything is running much more quietly and smoothly, and time will tell if it stays that way. All of the parts appeared to be made to closely match OEM quality, which was a concern prior to purchase. So far, I would say that this kit is a great value and that I wouldn't hesitate to use it again!

.Exact fit and easy installation
.Decided to replace my chevy express 1500 belt along with these parts since iam going on 200 thousand miles and everything is original. The installation was extremely easy, hardest part? Putting the belt on by yourself since a van barely has any room in the engine bay but otherwise i highly recommend it.

quieter and appears to get slightly better fuel mileage
Seemed to be fairly well made. Was an exact fit for a 1997 GMC Sierra 1500. Runs smoother, quieter and appears to get slightly better fuel mileage. Our ranch is 2 hours from the nearest paved road so we rely on quality products. Thanks .

Idler and Tensioner were fine, but the belt was about 2"-3" too short ...
Idler and Tensioner were fine, but the belt was about 2"-3" too short on a 1996 Chevy Suburban K1500 with the 5.7. If the belt fit this would have been a 5 star review....
