Solid, pretty, with design issues on intonation screws
Pros: Great looking Heavy - obviously machined from a solid piece of brass Saddles even lower than stock FenderCons: Side-to-side wiggle-room on saddle - would like tighter tolerance Limited intonation adjustment - even with both screw lengths Installs with 3 screws instead of 5 - (probably not a problem)The main "issue", is the intonation adjustment. The screw holes only have about 7/16 inch adjustment because they butt up against a height-adjustment screw. The bridge comes with four full-length intonation screws and two shorter ones to compensate for this, and you could always cut a screw off. But, it isn't a perfect system. On a standard Fender bridge the screw hole goes through the saddle and you can use the full length of the screw. Since the Hipshot has more limited adjustment, it's possible a bug change in string gauge could mean a trip to the hardware store for the right screw. On the upside, the low minimum saddle height is a real plus compared to Gotoh and some of their knock-offs, which often require neck shims to set the action.

3-hole version Fits Squier vintage modified short scale Jaguar bass
Only the 3-hole version fits a Fender Squier vintage modified short scale Jaguar bass. The pic on Amazon shows the wrong (5 hole) version. You’ll need to install the included short intonation screws on the E and A saddles, so might as well do this first. Also, the saddles may buzz a bit, so press against the barrel sides with an Allen key until it stops. This may or may not solve the problem permanently. Keep in mind you can adjust the saddles from side to side. I didn’t need to do this, and I wish they had an option without this adjustment. Since they don’t, make sure you can deal with any buzzing the bridge produces. With new wiring, pickups, and a good setup (including filing down the nut slots), the bass plays great and sounds fantastic. The intonation is great all over the fretboard with the lowered nut slots and balanced short scale strings. All of this makes a dirt cheap bass play and sound like it costs 10x more. Perfect for guitar players with wimpy hands!

WORKED GREAT ON MY FENDER SQUIRE JAGUAR SHORT SCALE BASS
This is a really great bridge. The one I received weighs 9-ounces and feels nice and solid. These are easy to install and fit my Squire Jaguar bass perfectly. Now I can finally adjust the action to be correct on this wicked little short scale bass. I've also added a Seymour Duncan P-J Quarter Pound set of pickups to replace the horrible sounding stock pickups. This little $170 Jaguar SS bass now sounds like a Stanley Clark Alembic, incredible articulation and beautiful sustain.Best of all this bridge was a lot cheaper here on Amazon than on Stewmac website where I buy a lot of luthier parts and tools. It was so much cheaper that I wondered if it was defective or something but nope, it's perfect. Only took about 10 minutes to swap out the flimsy little bent metal bridge that came on the Jaguar. I love the top loading too, makes it easy to change the strings. My '51 P-bass reissue has a Leo Quan Badass bridge with through-body string mount, it does not sustain any better than this so I'd say the Hipshot is equal to the Badass which is now no longer produced.Good music to all!

The best bass bridge
I'm a builder of stringed instruments and therefore install quite a few bass bridges. I have found that this hipshot A mount bridge is the best for ease of installation, holding it's saddle height adjustment, solid construction (I prefer the brass over aluminum from a tone perspective), and clean looks. You can't go wrong with this bridge and amazon sells them at a very good price.

Solid built high quality bridge
I have replaced the standard bridge on my MIM Jazz Bass because it was broken- when I popped the G string actively, the saddle was going down, so I had to use Allen wrench to fix it.Hipshot bridge is solid and stable, exactly what I needed. It was also very easy to install.I did not notice any substantial difference in tone, neither sustain increase - sometimes I feel like that it became longer and tone became slightly darker, but it is really subtle if it is there at all. Perhaps strings got a bit tighter (which I like) but again very subtle.Love the top loading.

Beautiful and solid.
I used this to replace the bridge in my Squier Jaguar bass. Fit perfectly with no need to drill extra holes. I was able to just put it on and screw it down. Beautiful chrome, as good or better than any other chrome I’ve seen on a bridge. Easy to adjust. The saddles are smooth and don’t create any drag when tuning. Very solid construction.

Not for my Ibanez SDGR.
I bought this to replace the bridge on my 90’s Ibanez SDGR. The screw holes were to close to the existing holes so I was afraid they would strip and splinter so I returned it. Awesome bridge though I wish I could have used it! So if you have a bridge like the one in the picture, I wouldn’t recommend it.
