Very Nice to Have but a Limited Lifetime
This unit does the job of providing instant hot water, but the heating element has a finite lifetime, and replacement elements have been made unavailable by the manufacturer, citing "safety concerns". Probably more likely "profit concerns", but whatever. So when the unit does inevitably fail - anywhere from 4 months (a neighbor's unit) to maybe a few years after installation (if you are lucky), you would have to buy a whole new heater tank. To prolong its life, unplug the unit when you are out of town. Put a timer on it so that it turns off at bedtime and comes back on shortly before you would be using it the next day. Don't set the temperature at maximum, choose a setting that is just hot enough for your needs.

Use a pre-filter or RO for better longevity.
My Insinkerator Wave is now 4 yrs, 4 months old now. First time with this model. I’ve owned my home for 28 years now and have always had some sort of insinkerator hot water model. Most of them have lasted only 2-3 years before heater failure, heater leaking, or dispenser leak/failure. So far, ( knock on wood ) this one is still going strong. We use it daily for tea/coffee ( hot side ),....drinking water, people and pet ( cold side ).I believe the longevity of this unit is due to the fact that this time around I installed a pre-filter prior to/upstream of the dispenser. This dramatically lowers the scale build up inside the heater. Our city water is pretty good, tastes fine and is fairly low in scale ( Generally lower in TDS, total dissolved solids, aka, Calcium, Magnesium, Potassium,etc....) ....but having a pre-filter will lower this further. On the cold side, I have found myself drinking allot more water now than I used to,.....taste is great.I used Insinkerator’s filter system which was easy to install. Swapping filters are a breeze. Con’s are the filters are pricey...My recommendation is to install a pre-filter system or Reverse Osmosis system prior to feeding your Insinkerator for better longevity. Finally, I did start to have both the hot and cold levers get a bit sticky. That is, harder to operate and they wouldn’t always auto close on their own...A light spray of WD-40 inside the valve/faucet body were the levers attach solved the problem immediately. Cleaned up excess with paper towel.

Works well but is LOUD and needs 1-1/2 inch hole NOT 1-1/4!
InSinkErator H-WaveSN-SS Involve Wave Instant Hot Water Dispenser SystemThe product works as expected but I have a few caveats for those considering buying it:1) It is LOUD. About every hour or so the unit heats up the water and I can hear it across the room, even though it is under my sink with the cabinet doors closed. It sounds a bit like a truck driving by the house a block away. The manufacturer says to lower the temperature, however mine is only putting out about 160 degree water now.If I lower it any more, what's the point???2) The faucet does not immediately stop when you release the handle - it continues to dribble for a second or two. Be careful because you don't want to dribble 200 degree water on your hand!3) Installation was pretty easy, however the lines from the faucet are about 16 inches long and cannot be extended. This can severely limit placement under your sink. Not everyone has a completely open, empty space like the manufacturer shows in every picture and drawing. Since my sink is in an island, I have a disposer and a drain vent so I had to remove both before installing the unit.4) The mounting hole must be 1-1/2 inches in diameter - NOT 1-1/4. I had to use a hand file and then a grinding wheel for my drill to expand the hole in my granite counter - not fun!Other than that I am still glad I have it.If anyone can suggest ways to mitigate the noise, please respond!

Cannot be installed as specified!
I purchased this to replace an old Insinkerator model Hot 1 that broke. The hole in my countertop is 1 1/4" in diameter, and the specifications on this product indicate that it can be installed in a hole that is 1 1/4" - 1 1/2" in diameter. But I found that this is not so. This version - H-WaveC - does not fit in the existing hole. I called the installation help hotline to inquire as to what I might be doing wrong, and the technician said that the hole needs to be 1 1/2" in diameter. So if that's the case, and the technicians know this, why do the specifications indicate that the product can be installed in a "standard" hole diameter of 1 1/4" - 1 1/2"? This product is not as specified since it cannot be installed as indicated, and I will return it. By the way, all Insinkerator Instant Hot Water heaters seem to have this same specification of 1 1/4 - 1 1/2 inches diameter hole for installation. I don't trust that spec enough now to purchase another model made by Insinkerator.

Good, fine, but not without Issues
This is a well-made set that does what it promises. Be aware that the tank units don't last forever -- they start leaking, typically. That's OK; we're on our third one. It's just so nice to have instant hot water. But there are quibbles. The instruction sheets need proofreading, e.g. "smaller than 1-1/2" should read "larger than 1-1/2". Also, a 1/4" compression fitting is required and is NOT included. Also, the copper line for cold water input is more than a foot shorter than was fitted in the past, so you may well need an extension hose to reach your supply valve, as I did. Finally, $330 is not exactly a bargain. I'm glad we bought it but we'd have done it a lot sooner if it was in the $279 or $285 range. Once you get past all that, the thing works like magic. And the new model seems quieter than the older one, too.

Good quality/value when compared to other brands
Good quality/value when compared to other brands, but all these types of units have limited life spans before they start to go bonkers. One small glitch with this kit: The steel washer provided to mount the dispenser to the countertop was the wrong size - too small and the lower threaded portion of the dispenser would not fit through it. Luckily, I didn't really need to use it since the countertop hole opening was small enough. However, good luck to you if your hole is too large: you'll have to figure out another way to secure the dispenser to the countertop or sink top or simply obtain a larger washer (unfortunately the required washer size is not readily available at your local hardware store).

so far so good. However
Broken on arrival. Cold water won't shut off completely without manually pushing the handle. Replaced it under warranty, so far so good. However, I noticed when switching between hot and cold, the handles get stuck halfway (you cannot push it all the way). But it does get released all the way after a while. I think this is a design issue and not really a big deal but very annoying. For an expensive product like this, I was expecting better quality and design.

I love having the hot and cold drinking water option
I love having the hot and cold drinking water option. I agree the best added feature would be to have the levers stay on by themselves. Having to hold a pitcher to fill with water is annoying but so is boiling water in a kettle. The tap is so convenient and you can add cold water to make it drinkable immediately for tea. I have not had any problems with using the unit since it was installed a month ago.

Love it! This hot water tap gets used multiple ...
Love it! This hot water tap gets used multiple times every single day in my kitchen. It functions perfectly and looks good too. I recommend considering an instant hot water tap to anyone who drinks a lot of tea or other hot drinks. You can adjust the temperature up/down to suit your preferences. I definitely recommend this product (and this maker, Insinkerator) to others.

works great!!
We have been using this now for about a month, works great!!!!!!!!!! During construction I misplaced the nut to fasten it to the counter and I used a nut for a vanity drain got me out of trouble. My wife makes tea every morning I had to turn it to max. The duel tap is awesome I connected my RO water to the cold side. One thing to watch for, don't store plastic bags under your sink it gets pretty hot we caught it in time and now we keep the cabinet clear.I would recommend this product to anyone, no more carrying 18L water jugs from the grocery store!
