Great Chair
I just received and assembled the chair yesterday, fairly easy to assemble, it took around 30 minutes. The tools included will get the job done, but some screws are kind of hard to get to as the L shaped bars included don't have a short end to reach tighter places. (the chair uses hexagon shaped screws with mini hexagons on the inside) Feels very comfortable, the mesh backing has just a little bit of give to it and the seat is a very comfortable and also has a bit of give. There are obviously lots of customizable aspects to the chair, the instructions manual has a decent explanation of what all the levers do, however, it's not entirely clear about one lever and I'll expand on this at the end of the review. Overall, my only real complaint is that the arm rests sometimes get pushed down from their upmost position when I put my weight on them to adjust myself. I'm 6ft tall and have no problems with awkwardly resting on the mesh. My shoulders are just below the plastic surrounding the mesh when I'm fully sitting up, but even still if you're sitting upright you aren't really touching more than the lower portion of the back. The seat could also be adjusted further forwards for extra compensation if you're taller. I will try to update my review, but I've already seen many others that indicate this chair will stand the test of time. I would 100% recommend this chair for anyone who has the money, comfortable, highly adjustable, seemingly well built, and fairly inexpensive for a high-end chair. (From back to front the levers are 1-5) The frontmost lever (lever 5) seemed like it didn't do anything, it took me quite awhile of messing with the chair to find out what its function was to begin with, and it seems mostly pointless anyways. The instructions sheet tells you to "lean back with lever 2 in the down position," however you do not need lever 2 in the down position (although it can be) and you need to already be leaned backwards before pulling down lever 2. (So the chair's tilt is not locked) Once you lean back enough, you are then able to move lever 5 forwards in order to essentially set a minimum amount the seat can be tilted forwards. If you had lever 2 down you can then release it and the chair will be stopped at a 90ยฐ angle to the ground as opposed to tilting forwards which is the starting position. The chair isn't really made to lean back in so this feature is somewhat pointless as it will never really lean backwards with lever 5 in place unless you intentionally do so. Could have been explained better in the instructions manual, but nothing much to complain about as the instructions make a bit more sense after I've already figured it out.

Excellent chair for the price point. Very small complaints.
After spending many days researching chairs in the sub $200 category, I decided on this one. As you may note, this chair is extremely similar to the Lorell Executive Mesh High Back chair as well as the Alera Elusion High Back chair. Please keep in mind this is a review of a sub-$200 chair and will not be compared to the likes of $800-$1000 chairs, which seems some people like to do for some reason. I work from home at least once per week as well as many hours dedicated to browsing the internet and gaming. So I needed a chair that had a high level of comfort for long periods of time. In this price range, it pretty much came down to a lot of store brand junkers as well as the Ikea Markus (which generally gets very favorable reviews across the board). I came upon the Proline II via PC Gamer's article from 02/05/2015 as their recommendation for budget chair. Bought it and overall am pleased. Overall build construction appears to be very good. So let's do some pros/cons: Pros: - Firm, dense seat cushion that still has plenty of give. I would not describe it as "plush", but the end result is that I still don't notice it after eight hours. That is a win when I consider comfort. - Back mesh gives enough support and give. Good amount of lower and center-of-back support. - Casters are silky smooth and move with ease. - Plenty of adjustments available (seat front-to-back adjustment ,armrest height and width adjustment, seat angle adjustment, backrest angle adjustment, backrest tilt tension, and forward tilt). There aren't a ton of chairs at this pricepoint that give these adjustments. Semi-Cons: - For those needing a lot of lumbar support, I don't think this will fit the bill. I would have loved a bit more lumbar support, but I find that if I stay upright I get enough overall support. - The tilt tension seems overly low. Even at it's "tightest" tension, the chair back will still move with very little movement. I would have liked a bit more resistance. But I have the backrest locked 90% of the time anyway, so this isn't a huge problem. Cons: - Arrived with a tear/puncture on the bottom of the cushion. There was no damage to the box when it arrived, so I'm not sure what hit it. I've submitted a request to Office Star to remedy this without returning the entire product. If I'm unable to get it repaired, I'm pretty sure it will spread after use. - Arm rests are a fairly hard plastic. Comfort is still there, but be aware that these aren't super soft. Also, even after tightening the knobs to lock them in place, they still have some side-to-side movement. Again, not a dealbreaker, but it's notable. Overall I am highly pleased with this chair and am happy I spent less than $200 to snag it. I feel it is priced well for it's amount of features. As a side note, I certainly don't understand the reviewer who complained of hard-to-understand instructions. The assembly was very straight forward. The "Mechanism" they discuss is the only huge part in the entire box (the part that contains all of the adjustment levers). Yes, it's funny that the instructions do ambiguously describe it as "The Mechanism", but it's quite clear that is exactly what it is. I assembled it in less than 15 minutes without issue and I would assume most other buyers wouldn't have any issue assembling this chair. The only small quib is that yes, one of the six bolts that attach the mechanism to the chair is a bit tough to get at due to the levers. The supplied allen wrenches will reach it though and shouldn't take more than another minute to tighten down. I'd happily edit this to a five star if I'm able to sort out the fabric tear. Edit: Sent an email to the company with pictures of the tear and filled out a form requesting a new seat. Within a week of confirming the email, they had shipped me out a new seat, no charge. Boosting to five stars, excellent customer service.

Fantastic Product with a disappointingly low lifespan on a very important part.
An incredibly comfortable product that's, in my opinion, well worth its price. I've had it for little over a year now and have up until recently been very satisfied with my purchase. The build quality is very good with neither the fabric mesh nor the cushion showing any real signs of wear despite frequent use. While very ergonomic on its own I do highly suggest that anyone who buys this also purchase something similar to what I link below for it improves an already great product tenfold: Suggested purchases: Lorell Hi-Back Chair Mesh Headrest Office Chair Caster Wheels And for those who might be wondering, the armrests are an optional addition. They can be removed and adjusted with incredible ease but seem fairly limited in the length in which you can adjust them. I do not use them however so cannot go into depth there. I cannot say it enough, this chair is very comfortable and might I add well built too. It was also very easy to assemble thanks entirely to easy to absorb directions. If not for a crucial part suddenly failing I would have happily given this product a full 5 star review for really, it is the best office chair I've ever owned. Onto the aforementioned problem. The gas cylinder, one of the most important parts of any office chair has began to leak gas after only a year of use. In fact, as I write this review I am slowly but surely getting closer to the ground and while amusing at times, it can get frustrating when I am doing something that requires focus. Product details say it's designed to support up to 250 pounds (I weigh in just over 200) and a quick look over the warranty does have this part listed as covered for up to 5 years but still, having to replace this part after only a year of use is disappointing, especially when combined with the fact that until a replacement part arrives, I am stuck constantly adjusting my chair back to its proper height. I still 100% recommend this product but only if you're ready to deal with part replacement for its clear that some parts will far outlive others.

This chair does not suck
We bought one of these when I first started WFH. I hate chair shopping, and I was dreading the process of researching the oh-so exciting office chair. Long story short, I landed on this one, and now several months later when the wife started WFH, we just bought the same exact one for her, because she kept stealing mine. Pros: Has all of the adjustments you're looking for, yes, even that spring-loaded (full butt-and-back) adjustable-tension recline when you want to just kick back like you own the place. Built sturdy. Structural joints are thick steel, not sheetmetal. The base (which is often complained about on other chairs) is still plastic, but molded thick enough that I don't see it breaking under my 185# abuse. Screws are pre-dressed with thread locking compound. Nice touch. Cons: The stupid forward release lever, you know, the one that no one ever uses that dumps you forward out of your chair? Yeah, it's right up front, and disengages when your calf hits it as you pull yourself forward. Not a huge con, but annoying, and can make a racket when you do the right combination of rock forward and scoot up toward your desk. Maybe I'm just a retread that can't seem to sit in a chair properly. I'll probably drill it and drive a screw through it to lock it in place. Again, I still bought a second chair knowing this, so take this particular con with a grain of salt. Assembly: Exploded diagram only, no actual instructions. No big deal, it's a chair for crying out loud. Comes with the required hex-key wrench, but does not come with the needed philips screwdriver. Not a complaint, just stating what's in the box. Do yourself a favor, and throw away the allen wrench, and use a T-handle or, better yet, a cordless impact driver with the right size allen bit. It's only ten allen head screws, but they are fine-thread and you'll be annoyed when the included wrench that's too-short hits the chair mechanicals and you have to unplug it every half-turn. I have this impact driver, and it's been my go-to for almost everything: http://amzn.com/B01M0EX5PW (You'll need a battery too). Yeah, yeah, I know, it's not a DeWalt, fine, go buy one of those. We're talking about a chair right now. If you're starting from zero in the DIY space, and want to assemble your chair without putting your coffee down, here's a hex driver kit to go with that impact driver (don't forget a battery) that's in your cart: amzn.com/B082QMG8GY Final thought on assembly: The plate that screws into the seat-back... there's a 50/50 chance you're going to put that in backwards. If you bought that impact driver and bits (and a battery), you really won't even care. If you insist on struggling through with the included hex key tool, make sure the welded nut on the plate is pointing away from you if you're holding the seat back like you're behind the person sitting in the chair. I hope that made sense. Packaging: Looking at it, nothing to write home about, but when the carrier threw it down from the top warehouse rack, and drop-kicked the box into the truck, the chair parts all survived without any damage. Seriously, I can't believe the chair made it without a scratch, looking at the abuse the carton took. But, hey, I'm reviewing the chair here, not the shipping company, right? I will say... thumbs up on using all cardboard packing that I can re-purpose in the garden or landscape, and not a huge chunk of styrofoam that would suck up an entire 40-gallon garbage bag! Overall, it's a good chair. So good, I bought another one after several months of using the first one.

Yessssss....finally! A comfortable chair!
I originally purchased a different chair for my new work-at-home lifestyle, and it really sucked. Not only was I struggling to adapt to suddenly being at home without any coworkers (thanks COVID 19!), I no longer had my ultra comfy (and ultra expensive) work chair. The first chair I purchased did not make my teleworking transition any easier. It was cheap, and it really showed. Very uncomfortable. I'm usually at my desk for 9 hours per day while working, and I needed something better. So I decided to try this chair (the Office Star High Back) and it has been an awesome replacement! The back is nice and high, the arm rests are adjustable so I can actually use them if I want, and the cushion doesn't put my butt to sleep. Plus, there are many ways to adjust several settings (seat tilt is one of my faves) so that you can find your perfect comfort setting. Would definitely recommend this chair. I was even able to put it together by myself. The control mechanism that sits under the chair (the thing that has all the levers for various adjustments) is a heavy sucker, so be careful and use proper body mechanics when lifting it. This heaviness really makes the chair feel solid, and not flimsy like my previous chair. One thing that I definitely love is the mesh back. It is very supportive, but in a dynamic sort of way. It's not a hard back, the mesh gives it a little "give" so it is supportive, but still comfy. And you can also adjust the tilt of the back and lock it into place wherever you want (or don't lock it if you like to rock in your chair). The seat can even glide forward or backward to help get that perfect setting in conjunction with the backrest. Would definitely recommend purchasing this chair for anyone that needs to sit at their desk all day. Thank you for the great product.

Leaky air shock & the back did not raise
The chair was packaged well. The instructions were great, which made it easy to assemble. Unfortunately, the adjustable back rest is fixed and does not allow you to raise the lumber support to match a 5โ10โ 145-lb female or 6โ2โ 195-lb male. The seat feels very comfortable but after only 2-3 hours, the front edge of the seat cuts off circulation above the knees and lower thighs. We later realized the air loaded cylinder leaked and the seat slowly lowered through out the morning. The seat slide adjustment worked as designed. The arm rests slide forward and as well as adjust upwards for taller framed people. The adjustable armrest bar supports do adjust out and away from the seat for a wider framed person but only minimally, about 3/4โ+ each, adding only 1.5โ-2โ of total thigh width of the seat. I have to add, the arm rest slack to allow easy raising or lowering, are very loud as is the slack in the easy slide seat. If you or your room is miked or your on the phone, this chair is very loud as you type, pull paper from folders or off the printer. It roiled around on our wooden floors easily. Similar quality wheels in the past tend to easily grab carpet fibers with the hard plastic and later gather on the axle/hub and eventually stop turning freely. When I did call the seller and manufacturer for a cylinder exchange, several times, I received no help nor call backs, during September of 2021. When I did initiate a exchange or return the chair was being sold by the seller for $80 less than I paid 3-weeks prior. In that case, less the leaking cylinder, I would say it was the 89-99 dollar chair that the seller dropped his price to. If your budget is limited and you NEED a chair, it will work mostly. The loose fitting mechanical gears or fitment of the seat slide, and adjustable arm rests made the chair very clunky and rattling as I moved in my seat while working. If the plastic materials were less HARD and brittle and more soft and flexible or giving, the noise would decrease greatly. There was a lot of unnecessary grease added to allow for the poor fitment. The cushion material would need to be a better quality foam type material to be comfortable for longer periods of time. The seat foam covered material felt good against the skin. I have to assume the cylinder seal quality was poor or it was an under weight rated cylinder. It could be good for a 50-100 person but we will never know since they would not call me back and send me a replacement cylinder. Amazon gave me great options for sending the chair back and returning the funds to my credit card quickly.

OK product , a bit flawed in some areas
Delivery: there was a problem with a label, delivery got lost and then somehow it was found and sent to me. Box arrived damaged and torn in number of places, it was simply taped where it was damaged. Product inside was kind of pile of loose chair parts. Nothing was secured in place. Small parts were in plastic boxes some not sealed. Large parts were just rolling around until chair was delivered to me. Assembly: Assembly, though it is difficult due to levers covering the screws you need to tighten, is possible. Need another wrench, not one provided in the box. Also some screws are very hard to tighten and I needed to use plenty of force. I made sure I do not push screws and align them properly to threads, but some were still very difficult to tighten. Operations: Very heavy chair. Seems like itโs plenty comfortable but some features are not as advertised. Backrest angle adjustment works but if released does not provide much support. As some of the reviewers state, chair is stuck in forward tilt. You need to unlock seat tilt function (lever 2) and really push all your weight to the back of the chair to put chair in the proper neutral position, pretty hard to do especially if you are on the smaller side. Lever 5 is completely not usable. Not sure if it is stuck or simply not designed to work. It is possible that chair is not functioning as it should since once you release lever 2 it immediately tilts forward. Instructions state that it should not unless lever 5 is used. Will try to contact manufacturer or seller about that.

High quality office chair that lacks only one feature
I bought one of these for work in September 2022. It covered all the bases from US-based to quality to features. The only downside is that I misunderstood the seat tilt functionality. When you tilt the seat, the back also tilts as they are cojoined. I was accustomed to my office chair at home having a seat and back that are independent of one another. The only other issue I had was the instructions for adjusting the chair settings. They are not easy to follow or make sense of, which led to a support call and even a replacement mechanism until I realized I was just not understanding the instructions. I think they pay a hungry English student from a local community college to do a quality job on the instructions. All said, this chair is good enough for me that I bought a second one of these in April 2023 to finally replace my home office chair. No more back and neck pain! Primary things I like about the chair: 1. Seat and back tilt (though cojoined by the mechanism, as described above). This ensures I can get support under my thighs. 2. Arm rests raise and lower. This ensures I can keep my elbows at the right 90-degree angle to the keyboard etc. 3. Wheels are large and strong which makes it easy to roll the chair around while I'm sitting in it. UPDATE 9/27/2023 Primary things I do NOT like abuot the chair: 1. Arm wrests are hard rubber and hurt your elbows after a day of use 2. Inability to keep seat level while tilting back forward; i.e. back and seat rotate forward and back together, not independently
