Aegean Unisex Wool Greek Fisherman's Cap

I like my cap; itchanges my whole attiude about growing older.

I bought one of these same hats about 20 years ago at a shop in the "Inner Harbor" in Baltimore and the original has had a LOT of use over the years. That cap is black, and I recently bought a navy-blue jacket, so I wanted a hat to match. I was pleased to find this cap on Amazon, but I honestly didn't expect it to be of the same quality as my old one. I was very pleasantly surprised! It is EXACTLY the same, right down to the stitching on the bill! Only minor problem I had was that the old hat is a 7 1/2 and its a bit tight, so I ordered a 7 5/8 for the new one and it was too large. The exchange was quick and painless and my new 7 1/2 fits perfectly. It seems that the Greek Craftsmen who make these caps understand the meaning of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it", Outstanding cap of the highest quality.

Looks good, the materials are above average quality and the craftmanship is decent. Not much worse than one I had bought about 45 years ago. An authentic enough. If any Greek fishermen wear this, that's probably what they wear.That said, not acceptable to use a staple instead of stitching, even though this is not a luxury item, to hold the interior head band together. I think in the past that was accomplished by a little red ribbon.

Ordered one hat and, after seeing the quality, immediately ordered two more colors. Navy blue is a lovely, rich color, as is the brown that looks like rich chocolate. The gray is nice medium color. Yes, there is a cardboard ring around where it fits on head (inside) but I believe that will soften in time. I'm not removing mine as another reviewer wrote because I think it will keep the hat's shape. Am very sensitive to fabrics and the terrible chemicals that are sprayed on them when coming from China. Absolutely no smell to hat and it cleared with my doctor as not a problem for my skin or sinuses. (As I said, I'm very sensitive to those chemicals.) These hats claim to be made in Greece and and I believe it. They are very, very well made. Not a thread out of place, braid is stitched on perfectly. Hat looks very elegant and can be worn with a nice outfit or casual jeans. Top of hat can lie a little low or be puffed up on top. Has been a very long time since I have seen such a well-made piece of clothing. I miss quality products like this. Good price for a very quality item. Sizing is right on. I measured my head as noted in ordering directions. I have a small head and got a 7 1/4; it fits perfectly because I like my hats a little loose. Would also say hats are unisex. I'm female and think hat is adorable; would look good on a man, too.

i was very pleased with the design of this hat however, it was too large for my average upper head diameter. All of my other hats are labeled as 7-1/4" and they fit perfectly at ear level. When I reorder another hat, I will choose a size 7 instead. I suspect there are design differences in the flexible hat bands in baseball hat configurations which require different sizing considerations for rigid hat band hats with a shallow head depth where the hat sits higher on the head.

Been wearing this style cap for about 45 years now and can’t go out in public without being recognized by someone. Even out of state, people call my name! I can’t get away with anything!

This is my second fiherman’s cap. Wore the first one for about ten years. Love it.
