Video quality is great. Sound quality is good, though I normally have that off. Reason for not getting five stars is that camera will not power off properly. It seems to finish the current recording like it should, and shuts down, then powers right back up and just loops from power on to power off until the battery runs out. I leave it plugged in and recording 24/7 most of the time so not a big issue but if on a switched power port it would be annoying.

It's not dependable. The first day I used it, it only recorded my drive home, not my drive to work or my lunch drive. It was on the 3 minute loop, also the screen goes dark, I have to touch it to make sure it's still on -- if I'm driving this is a hazard because I'm taking my hands off the wheel and eyes off the road to check to see if it's still recording. The second day I used it I change the loop to 5 minutes, turned off the screen time off. still only recorded the partial drive, screen still went dark and had to press to check that it was on. I wouldn't recommend purchasing this item, there are other cheap camera that actually work. There is a chance that the recording you may need my not be there because it doesn't record everything. At some points during my drive home, I touched it and it had stop recording completely; I don't know why. The plus is that it's extremely easy to install. I will be returning this item and looking at better alternatives.

Very clear picture and the sound is pretty good too. However, the design to connect the camera to the vacuum holder is poor and feels cheap

DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM!!! Instructions are USELESS and there is no customer service phone number nor web site address. Unless you have solid technical experience (which, fortunately, I do) you will never be able to operate this product - especially since the default language is CHINESE (or Korean or Japanese - I do not know the differences).This product should be removed from Amazon.com for its lack of user friendliness. Just one man's opinion. (BTW... although the box says "Black Box" and has a model number, www.blackboxmycar.com disavows any relationship with Amazon.com and specifically says they will not support purchases made through the Amazon site.)

I want to buy video record in case an accident every occurs and to keep documentation of my road trips.The PROS:- It's relatively cheap.- It's pretty small (it could fit behind your rear-view mirror if you wanted).- The 1080p quality is very good.- The camera mount for this holds on well to the windshield very wellCONS:- The connection between the dash cam itself and camera mount is quite difficult to get off/on.However, it have the auto shut off feature. Also when you start the car, the cam will auto turn on, so I do not need to reach the button every time

Hey, this is a nice cam. Bad sound, but great video. Night vision is a joke since they put in a white LED for it instead of infrared, lol. But you can change the exposure, so it's okay. Gonna take it apart to make sure it has the right chip, I think. Then I'll update this.UPDATE:Yo, this is the REAL MCOY! Took it apart, and the chip is indeed Novatek "NT96650"! Awesome! 5 stars now! (Stupid "night vision" is still cr@p, lol, but what the hey? It's good at night with high exposure setting!)BUY IT HERE!K, bye.

All the on screen menu options are in Chinese. Unable to figure out how to work it. Returned.

It is a great camera for the price. As long as it gave me a clear image of what was going on around me, I would be happy. When I watch the footage, you can read license plates from 2-3 car lengths away. After that distance, it gets blurry.The audio picks up fairly well. You can hear sounds from outside the vehicle (tires squealing, horns honking, etc) over the music.I purchased a 32gb class 4 Sandisc card to go with the cam. I read the reviews about too many issues with class 10s. So far, I have no issue with it.
