lubrication spindle bearings
I like the machine very much and am satisfied . However there are a few small problems with my machine, But there nothing I can't fix easy enough on my own. I think a little more time should be involved in the testing and packaging of this machine just before shipping. The one problem that will take some time to fix is the lubrication points on lower headstock ! they no longer drill the holes so you can oil the spindle bearings. And as a result, the spindle bearings DO NOT get any oil. I have already taken the machine apart while testing for this and the bearings stay completely dry ! so either you have to drill these holes an oil daily as the manual still states , or you will be buying bearings every so often.

Poorly made G9729.
I have a G9729 12x36 and I don't think I'll buy another anytime soon. Having to tear the whole machine apart to get all the casting sand and grit out is a night mare. Had to replace the carriage shuttle spur gear cause it was rusty and was roughly machined and pitted. The replacement gear was same condition minus the rust. In order to get the cross feed to work smoothly I had to remove the gibs and sand/polish to make it work smoothly. If your thinking to use it "out of the crate" you had better forget about it! It will take a week or more to get it to work semi-accurate.
