Cats are Weird and More Observations Hardcover – July 28, 2010

So so so funny! And entertaining!! Very unique!!! 😃

Jeffrey Brown knows his cats. You can tell by the way he poses them, runs them through their "zoomies," and transcribes their various sounds. But he also loves them; you can tell that by the ones he adopts (both IRL and on-panel). His colored-pencil (Prismacolor?) renditions are just as effective for the kitties as they were for "Darth Vader and Son" (which I had bought before). The color cartoons alternate with black-and-white pencil cartoons, along with several realistic portraits of one or another of his cats.The book itself is a good-quality, heavy little volume, with little cut-out windows in the front cover to give you a glimpse of the first multi-panel adventure of Buddy and Kitty (you can look at the whole thing, without the holes, on the inside back covers).Definitely a book for the cat lover on your list.

I have a love of cats, and own two myself with my boyfriend. I have a running gift where I have given him (my boyfriend) the post cards of Cats by Jeffery Brown and now I plan on giving him this book as well. It is adorable (I cheated and already read through it before giving it to him) and all of the things about cats are totally true. It's fun looking at my cats after reading the book going, "He was totally right!"

I first bought this years ago from a used book store in my neighborhood and recently reread it. The drawings of cat antics really capture their actions and behaviors - very amusing - some made me laugh out loud (again). Really a fun book - just bought two from Amazon to give as birthday gifts to cat owners I know.

A charming cartoon book, with unusually accurate observations of cat behavior. I got it as a gift from one cat-loving friend, and immediately ordered a copy for another cat-lover.

I really loved that book! I love cats, let's start from that fact. You need to love and know cats in order to really enjoy this book. It represents cats' life so well! Such a cute, fun to read book. Only disadvantage: I finished it in one day! It totally deserves a glance, I am ready to buy the next ones by Jeffrey Brown.

You just KNOW that Jeffrey Brown is a true cat-lover.Not a sappy sentimentalist, but someone who is fascinated by cats and loves their quirkiness.The situations he depicts in his cartoons are just so familiar to people who dwell with cats. And the simple drawings somehow capture the essence of catness (I don't know what that means exactly, but I think we actually enjoy, even admire cats for their ability to take their set of tightly-wound, instinct-bound behaviors and explore what must be to them an alien and possibly hostile environment (our homes) and deal with even stranger creatures, like ourselves.).

Mr Brown wrote a wonderfully entertaining book "Cat getting out of a bag and other observations" that was in a very similar vein to this one. I got a kick out of that, despite having already been inundated with cat themed material since the widespread adoption of the internet in the early 2000's.His second book is fine, save it is far too much in the same vein. While the comics are still amusing and adorable, they have a repetitive sense about them, and they are far less interesting. I find "Cat getting out of a bag, the sequel" to be a fine but still pale comparison to the original.

This illustrator really doesn't get enough credit, I see his work on shelves of run down book stores for no more than a couple of pounds. It's very sad to see, he's a great illustrator and I get his humour. I also really like his Star Wars illustrated book too. I highly recommend his short books, they're quirky.

Ich komme aus einer Familie von Katzenliebhabern, und das Buch wurde an den Festtagen einmal komplett rumgereicht. Es ist allerdings nur für Katzenbesitzer lustig, da die Comics keinerlei pointe haben, sondern lediglich eine alltägliche Geschichte zeigen. Es sind mehr die Erinnerungen und Verbindungen mit der eigenen Katze die das Buch lustig machen.
