Q: what wire gage should I use for this 30amp siemen for 50 foot disance ?

You need a 8-2 with ground romex cable it will work fine at 50 feet (very good question) You can also use two 8 gauge wires for your L1 and L2 (black and white) 220 with a 10 gauge ground in a conduit. Not worth the trouble in my opinion, go with the romex (three wires in one sheath) for a quick install.For others that come upon this, Siemens recommends a 40 amp breaker for this installation. A bit confusing since it is a 30 amp charging unit.So 40 Amp breaker, 8-2 with ground wire that is all you will need for this installation. You may go up to 95 feet from your panel to the VC30GRYHW.Check with your local inspectors for help, they are typically nice people. Always follow local regulations."While I am not now an electrician, I 'played one on TV' (licensed) working my way through college."

Q: IS there any reason not to install this unit outdoors ? It appears to be the same as the outdoor unit.

The NEMA 1 case should not be used outdoors.

Q: Does this charger works for Benz B-class car ?

My understanding - from reading about it - is that it should work for the B-class just fine. Great choice of a fine car - Congratulations.

This is a J-1772 charger. J-1772 is a standard adopted by all but Tesla for reasons of supercharging- a feature no other car company can duplicate. The next highest standard is ChadEMO which is an option on many vehicles. I would assume the Volvo either uses both/either standard, or at least has an adapter included.
