Smooth and crisp.
I have been lusting after a Telecaster for years, but didn't want to buy a low-end model. I have played and loved a Danelectro for years and have really had no complaints, but I haven't touched it since getting this guitar (except to bring as a back-up to my gigs). The tone is crisp and immaculate. There is no feedback or hum coming from the pickups, as what happens with my bandmate's Tele. I play rocksteady and reggae music. In combination with using the series/parallel rotary switch, position two of the pickup switching (neck & bridge) is perfect for rhythm for nearly every style, and position one (bridge) gives a thinner, crunchier tone for lead/picking and early/skinhead reggae rhythm. I play it through a 40W Fender Hot Rod Deluxe with a 12" Jensen speaker, and I couldn't be happier with this setup. The neck feels wonderful and playing this guitar takes less effort than others I have owned. I had to bang on them to get sounds I wanted, but this Telecaster replicates that with just a flick of my musical wrist. There are no aspects of this guitar that I find the least bit negative. I was really worried about purchasing a guitar online that I hadn't had the chance to play myself before placing my order, but this is the best decision I have ever made.

Good job Fender Japan!
I think this is the best fender I've played off the shelf with zero adjustments. within the last year I learned about the "baseball neck" on a trade, I've been obsessed ever since. I have a custom tele with a baseball neck a little bigger than this one, and it's the best guitar I've owned. Ever. A lot of guitarists like the thin necks. The thinner the better. For shredding, that's probably the best option. For increased sustain, reliability, and fatter tone, this type of neck is best. by far. This guitar is about the price of a mid range USA made fender, but way better. It's custom shop quality. The neck Is nothing fancy to the eye, but it's nice. Solid maple. Very bright too, combined with the maple body. You may or may not like that. It doesn't have a tone knob, it has a switch for the mid position pickup selection. basically like adding a small gain boost at the flick of a switch. Pretty awesome. The paint is better than any Fender I've seen. The tuners are very well made, stays in tune fairly well. You can still get the twang of a tele, but it's better sounding when set up for rock or blues in my opinion. I love the gold hardware. The only thing I'd change is the pick guard, to pearl. There's one downfall, but it may not be a problem to you. A good les paul is heavy right??? Of course, the best les pauls are insane heavy.. I had one, best one I put my hands on, and I've played a ton. The difference in the light vs heavy that I found was way more sustain. This is the heaviest tele I've ever held! It's just as heavy as my les paul. I was shocked. Not something I wanted or expected, but I don't think it's enough to dock a star. Overall, very different from what comes to mind when you hear the word "telecaster" ... And the words "made in Japan" ...You'll never look at them the same way again, I can assure you. \m/\m/

This is a great guitar
The neck with the jumbos is amazing, the tone is outstanding. First guitar I've purchased in awhile that didn't need a fret job, killer qc on these. Killer instrument no question at all.
