sounds nice if you remain motionless
Nice build quality and sound but the cable is excessively mirophonic. Even gentle rubbing against ones shirt gets transmitted to the headset. Actually touch or have the cable bump a hard surface and it comes through loud and clear. It's pretty much only acceptable while not moving like when reading a book or watching a movie and even then it's annoying when you inevitably do. It's also prone to getting kinked. I wouldn't recommend.

K712 Stereo Reversed Channels
First of all, these are the best sounding cables I've used on the AKG K7XX Mass headphones, and I've used several over the past couple of years. The sound is amazing, and unlike many of the other replacement cables you can find on Amazon, these provide a proper separation of audio channels and do not force you into mono listening. The cable I received has left and right channels reversed, which is why I cannot give this 5 stars as other reviewers have. In my use-case this isn't a huge problem, as I'm splitting left and right at the DAC and can just swap the two cables around there (Plugging L into R and R into L). It just just something worth being aware of.

Epic, but might have weirdness depending on your sensitivity to sibilant sounds.
I love my lime green Q701s, but I've been readjusting my hearing while mixing and mastering (still using spectrum analyzers to verify) because these are fantastic for instrument placement and reverb. Would just like a touch more sub bass. It's because of that, and the insane length of even the "short" cable, that I got the "AKG K701, K702, K271, K240, Q701 Upgrade Cable / Headphone Replacement Cord" from Geekaria on here. This cable is epic, and odd. I used it with my Galaxy Note 4, my Native Instruments Komplete Audio 6 I/O interface, and my FiiO E18 DAC/Amp. They had one common element: they opened the highs even higher. Some tracks got a bit too sibilant that were wonderful with the stock cables, but I'm still testing that. Also, the initial "click" of hitting kick drums or toms is a bit more pronounced, which is pleasant for me but a bit artificial for mastering since almost nobody would have a combo of gear to hear it like that. :-) However, that behavior helped clear up some of the muddiness in my Pioneer HDJ-2000 headphones, and I've tried a few cables on those already. The only problems I've had are microphonics from the cable (even on the massive Q701, which is hilarious) and that's it's a bit short for using with my DAW. Otherwise, awesome. The cable ends (especially the mini-XLR) are wonderful. Probably getting another, although I wish I could get a 2.5 meter just like this one. Oh, and the cable is really rigid, which is probably why I get the cable microphonic noise through the left ear, but tangling doesn't seem like a problem. Or even possible. ;-)

Good purchase but one big caveat...
Good sound and I like the stiffness of the cord as it doesn't get caught up in my chair wheels like my old one did.The only downside is that it will not screw into the large jack adapter on my stereo. My old one has threads that allow it to screw into the large jack adapter and this one does not and so I can't use it in my stereo. That's a big downside for me but I still have it to use when plugged in directly to my tower or any other small jack audio device.

Great product solid performer
I got this as a "reasonable" replacement for my oem stock akg mini xlr cable. I also wanted a connector that would be compliant with any of my devices weather it be an ipod, my phone, or my kindle fire. Im currently using them on my AKG K7xx. Though they require supplemental power to perform at their best they shouldnt be regarded as mobile headphones i just wanted a shorter cable to run on my desktop/if i want to go do dishes or if im on the can....etc i could unplug this cable from my amp right into a mobile device and take my K7xx on the go around the house "never to leave the house though :)". Its also nice because there are quite a few Mini xlr connector based headphones out there and i wanted to have one as it is just for those applications. Granted the oem AKG 6ft cable sells for 40-50$ i find this "upgrade" highly warranted over the oem cable price which is apparently also 99.9% o2 free its still nice to have a small form factor that will not be on the ground exposed to my chair wheels rolling over and flattening/destroying the oem cable...as an entry to hifi audio i got the K7xx for my slightly bassy tastes as well as the seemingly infinite sound stage and beyond ideal imaging. Since im not an audiophile i have no knowledge of what these bring to the table performance wise over the included oem cable...If anything i can say that there appears to be more clarity and more precise imaging over the included cable. Other than that its just nice to have a high quality cable with good gold connectors as well as a silver cable that is oxygen free.

The channels are backwards
Unacceptable for this type of product.

This one is good in length
I purchased this cable to replace my original AKG cable, 10 feet is a bit much when using it at your desktop. This one is good in length, feels durable and tangle free. No issues connectors seem good and sturdy, one major concern as other Mini XLR cables have gotten stuck in the jack. Overall great experience thus far and it even brings a 1/4 inch push on adapter for those concerned about a thread adapter or screw on. Would buy again, Will update if the cable doesn't last.

Great cable, crisp sound
I bought this because the original cable to my AKG K7XX headset broke after 1 year of usage. Would recommend this as an upgrade to the stock AKG K7XX cable. Very nice quality and perfect length. The cable does not tangle and is very light so you almost don't recognize it hanging from the headset. I would also say that the sound is more crisp than the original cable. I use a S.M.S.L M3 DAC/AMP with the headset.

Genuine improvement
I am using this Apollo silver cable with a pair of Beyerdynamic DT 1990s, there was no reversing of channels as some other customers reported.I don't know why it still surprises me, because this is the third time that I have upgraded the cable on a pair of over-ear headphones, but tonal colourations which I had assumed were caused by acoustic or mechanical properties of the headphones became fixed by changing the cable. I have never heard anything like this when changing interconnects between a Hi-Fi source and amplifier. The downside has always been an increase in microphonic noise, where rubbing or knocking the cable transmits sound into the headphone. But this Geekria cable is less susceptible to this problem than the Ablet cable I bought for my HiFiMan headphones, or the Russ Andrews cable on my Sennheisers.

Incredibly noisy.
Used these on the AKG K550 mk3s.The cable didn't seem to impart a different sound signature when compared to the stock cable, it felt alright, didn't like to tangle. However, especially for the price, this is INCREDIBLY noisy. Anytime the cable would contact anything solid like a zipper it would be very loud in my earcup.Honestly, I'm wishing I spent a little bit more and got a cable from CustomCans.co.uk or gotten a cheaper alternative.

Audio Heaven.
I love AKG headphones, I currently have three sets on the go, the K550, Q701 and K712 Pro models. I often wonder why AKG do not add cable to match the quality of the headphones, luckily, somebody else does! I bought this cable for use with the Q701 and K712 Pro headphones, I tried similar cable before and didn't notice much of a difference. This time the difference is instantly obvious, especially with High Resolution FLAC or DSD Files, everything is so much clearer - Ocean Rain (Echo & The Bunnymen) sounds hauntingly beautiful, the strings on To Wish Impossible Things (The Cure) are immaculate, the audio from both sets of headphones was already impressive, now it is immaculate. Using similar cable I could close my eyes and imagine a band in the room, now, close my eyes and it's like the band is in my head, everything sounds new, pristine - if my ears could grin, they'd be grinning now I use this cable with AKG Q710 and AKG K712 Pro headphones connected to a Sony NWWM1AB Flagship High Resolution Walkman.

Stopped working after 8 months
After 8 months of intensive use of the cable and enjoying the excellent sound, the volume produced by the cable started to decrease. After a week there was no sound at all.The cable does not show any visible damage. An expensive cable with a short life.
