These brass alloy models sound and look great, and let you get into playing meinl at very realistic prices. The hcs series from meinl cymbals is designed to offer all of the cymbal types and sizes normally found in professional lines to beginners, in order to deliver the same sound options a professional drummer may look for. The hcs-scs "super cymbal set" is an all-inclusive set of standard cymbal types and sizes that will complete a drum kit set up. Included in the hcs super set are a 14" hi hat pair, 20" ride, 16" crash, 18" crash, 16" china, and a 10” splash. The hi hats have a crisp "chick" with a nice slosh when played open while the ride cymbal delivers a well-defined "ping" and a cutting bell without distracting overtones. Hcs crashes respond with a warm attack followed by a medium sustain. The china is ideal for adding cutting accents with a sharp, sinister sound. Hcs cymbals are crafted in germany with a durable brass alloy that has a responsive touch with an unmatched sound quality in this range. Geared towards beginners, meinl hcs cymbals stand up to the brunt of sticks while maintaining their musical tone.

and I was not disappointed. These are high quality cymbals
I got this as a Christmas gift, and I was not disappointed. These are high quality cymbals; sturdy, with a nice, full sound. I'm a pretty rough player, but these cymbals are strong enough to have avoided getting any scratches all year!

"Do your research first"
**** If there was a "minus" star...I'd choose it. What was I thinking? It's my fault really, for being quick to pick and not do just a little research on these cymbals. A comment I saw, all too late, was that "these cymbals are a great starter package for beginners". Sad to say....they are NOT at all what I was thinking they'd be. My next step now is to attempt to return them, if it's possible...or at least try and sell them to someone....although it would HAVE to be a beginner and I would feel too uncomfortable with the sale. So NOW, Im still in need of quality cymbals and will be looking for them...AGAIN. My head saw, "killer deal on a multi-cymbal package"..."Close-out" and a few other phrases that had me thinking they were better then they turned out to be. Sad as this is...it's even worse when you consider that I play the bulk of my music in Christian bands...and Im struggleing with finding even one good, positive and kind word to say. So with that, I'll end this review there.
