Fluker's Canned River Shrimp Treat for Hermit Crabs, 1.2 oz

The media could not be loaded.  they are small, and have a slight smell. Its not overwhelming though. Good for the money, our hermits love them. (Its asking me to rate the flavor, and I'm just basing it off of the hermits reaction to them) lol

The scent received a 1 because it was horrid, but with that being said it’s dead shrimp! It’s supposed to smell horrible, but it did stink up our house pretty bad. Our hermies did not like these little guys! We were trying to give them some variety and they didn’t go for it. The product arrived as described, very quick, without issue. Our crabs just didn’t want anything to do with it! Will try other products from this company.

Placed 2 shrimp from the can into my hermit crabs enclosure. My largest crab, Cat Daddy, went over and checked it out while my other 2 crabs actually ran away to the other side of the tank. I assumed they didn't care for the smell. The shrimp was smelly and foul looking. But I'm accustomed to fresh, plump pink shrimp, not canned. So I assumed it was supposed to be that smelly and dark grayish color based on other reviews. I should've followed my gut instead of brushing my discomfort aside. After Cat daddy nibbled a few bites, he went over to his bowl of fresh water. He climbed into the shallow end and began drinking, I left for the day. When I came back 5 hours later, he was still sitting in the shallow end of his fresh water bowl, dead. I can't say for sure it was the shrimp and not something else. But thankfully my other 2 crabs stayed away and are still with me today. I still miss Cat daddy. He was my largest and most inquisitive and friendly crab. We actually received him after my mother in law passed away in August since he was hers, so his loss was even harder for us. Please follow your gut when feeding these to your pet. If you're not sure then don't risk it.

So my hermits loved this. They looked good, they ate them right down. My only concern is it seems to go bad before I even use it all up. I’ve tried refrigerating after opening to see if that will keep it longer, but they still started to smell and look off. Otherwise definitely like it as do my crabs.

Well, I did not think I'd ever be writing a review about canned shrimp. But my daughter got some hermit crabs on our last trip to the beach and there's no where local to buy hermit crab supplies so to Amazon I went. The hermit crabs love love love this! The can is smaller than a can of cat food but last for weeks. They really pack alot of food into this little space. The hermit crabs love it- they must smell it- because dropping a couple of the shrimp in will wake them from sleep and get them moving. Upon opening the first time (at room temp) the smell was stronger than when it is chilled. The package is not resealable so I threw the can into a snack size baggie and it stays fresh (and not stinky) in the fridge. I do not touch them to get them, I just kinda sprinkle out of the container. I am honestly so impressed with how much the crabbers like these treats and for the price this can't be beat.
