A delightful deck building word game
I love this game. The deckbuilding aspect is strategic, and vital to scoring big, but the spelling of words, especially with less-often used letters, is a fun challenge. There are four "suits" of cards, corresponding to four genres of reading: romance, adventure, mystery, and horror. These work with each other to score higher. While the theme is writing books, each turn you are spelling out a single word, which is often very similar to other words you have played earlier in the game, so the theme is merely a gloss. That said, it is still great fun to lay out a high-scoring word that is unusual. Coming up with words to fit the letters in your hand is a pleasant challenge.Visually, the game is lovely, running with the theme of literary creativity from the start, using tiny books for scoring markers, little ink wells for bonus cards, and beautifully rendered letters on each card that look as though they are pulled from a century-old hardback edition of a respected novel. The only drawback I can see in the game is the tendency for strategic deck building to mean more for scoring than the ability to spell well or possessing a large vocabulary. But this is a minor quibble.Overall, I give this a solid 9/10.

Great game
Great game. I like this better than their first game, Paperback, and the packaging and physical product is top notch. Easy to learn and much more fun for beginners and casual gamers than something like Scrabble.

Awesome game!!
This game is so much fun!! It’s a deck builder and a word game. It comes with a couple of built in variations. The game pieces are so cute; the whole thing is very aesthetically pleasing. It’s very smartly thought through. It’s easy to learn if you are familiar with any other deck builders. If not, it’ll take a bit more, but it’s still pretty easy to learn.

super fun game with high replayability
the wife and I have really been enjoying this. She likes word games and i like deck building games, so this is perfect. There are also other variations to change the game up a bit and add more if you feel like you need it. I also like that there is a currency in the game to manage when it comes to buying cards, using addition cards, or using your 'hero power'.we will be playing this game for a long time and not have it feel old!

This game should be more popular than it is.
You know that indie band you love that no one else knows and you wonder why they aren't huge yet? This is the board game version of that indie band. Why isn't this game as huge as Catan, or Ticket to Ride? I host a game night, and this is a group favorite! Always one of the first games off the shelf.Fowers Games could have released the variations separately as a cash grab. Instead, all the different variations are included in the box! My gf and I have tried them all out, and we will mix and match them, or play with all of them, to spice it up. The only one I haven't tried yet is the solo variation, but that's because I always find people who want to play with me.
