Litter Genie Cat Litter Box in Flexible Plastic with Handles, High Walls

I've tried big litter boxes, litter boxes with clip on lids, rolling litter boxes, robotic litter boxes ... JUST SAY NO. Here is my 30 years of experience having a cat, this is what you need: this litter box, the litter genie, a litter mat, unscented clay litter (Dr. ELSYES) and your commitment to scoop the box once a day because you love your pet and it's important to them. No need to read on unless you want more detail. Litter boxes: they're gross to clean, they're too small, they're too short, poop and urine get on the lids, drip down the sides, they're hard to carry around. This litter box solves several problems: it has groundbreaking handles! It has a pour spout for easy empty when you need to change the litter! It is large so kitty has plenty of room and doesn't try antics like half standing on the rim while doing the business. It has tall sides so your cat a) doesn't get as much litter everywhere and b) doesn't do the thing where they try to tear off the side of the litter box while trying to cover their waste. The sloping sides just guide your kitty's paw down into the litter where they can still ineffectively cover their waste but with much less noise. It is so easy to clean outside with a hose. About the litter genie: I try to avoid disposable plastics but I have given in on this one. Works just like a diaper genie and it's an outstanding improvement to the cat lover's lifestyle. No more odor and you empty it every so often when it's full. About litter: I have tried every kind of biodegradable litter - wheat, soy, husks, potato pellets, corn - all failed in the long run. Tofukitty was the only bio litter that was great and it's discontinued, so I have made peace with clay. I use Dr. ELYSES Scoop Away Unscented - you don't need that gross heavy grandma perfume invading your whole house because you have the litter genie. It clumps well, not too dusty, and picky cats are okay stepping on it (cats can get sensitive about their paws). UPDATE: my kitty has been using this combo about 6 months. I noticed when I switched to the new litter and kept the box nice and full, kitty started digging in it. Kitty had never attempted to dig before pooping before. After about 2 weeks, kitty suddenly was covering her poo and pee properly as well, for the first time in 10 years. We were so surprised. I realize again unwanted pet behavior is because of owners, not animals. Once I gave her what she needed, everything improved for everyone.

This litter box is awesome and well worth the money. I have three cats, all different sizes and they can all fit in it comfortably. All three of them choose this litter box over the others, every time. Nothing ever leaks out and the walls are high enough that not much litter gets out, even with three kicking cats. The shape makes it so easy to clean. And the handles!!! The handles make everything easier, moving it when I need to vaccuum, carrying it, cleaning it. It's easy to deep clean too, it washes right up, good as new. One of my cats loves to scatch at the sides and you would never know it, the scratching leaves no marks. It's also great or smaller spaces as it can fit in easier then harder walled boxes. I bought this in 2023, it is now 2026 and it's still as good as it was the first day. I would buy this again when I need one and my cats recommend it to your cats.

I have two cats and this has become one of my favorite litter boxes after trying quite a few over the years. The stainless steel base gives it a sturdier, cleaner feel than the usual plastic-only pans, and litter doesn’t stick to it the way it tends to in regular boxes. That makes cleaning far easier, I usually just dump, rinse with hot water and mild soap, and it looks new again. Unlike plastic, it doesn't hold onto the pee smell once washed. The size works well for multi-cat use. Either of my cats fits comfortably inside, thanks to the taller sides that keep the litter in instead of scattering it all over the floor. The shape is a little unusual at first glance, but it’s actually very practical. It fits into tight spaces, and if you place it against a wall, the flexible design adjusts to the space while still giving the cats room to move. I've seen complaints about durability, but I've seen no issues myself so far. Overall, it’s quite a pricey option, but the design, cleanliness, and durability make it worth it for me. With two cats using it daily, it’s holding up well, keeps litter inside, and is easy to keep clean. Unless something better comes along, this will stay my go-to box. Okay, so clearly the shape of this litter "box" isn't what's shown. Not sure if this is a re-design or...just not sure. This one appears to have the handles on each end instead of each side as shown and one end is clearly lower than the other. It's clear the difference in my photos and the photo of the product attached in the bottom of the box. It is a good size...not too small so pleased with that. This is more accurately described as a litter tote rather than a litter box. Basically, it's a large plastic tote. It's definitely different than the usual litter box, will be super easy to dump used litter out and spray clean and will, I think, work great for my needs...I use a litter box only when my 2 indoor/ outdoor cats stay inside overnight due to inclement weather. Wanted something easy to give a litter box option when needed during the night. Will update if I run into any issues or negatives. Update 10/13/20: after using this product, I felt I needed to make customers aware that it does crack pretty quickly especially if picking it up when it contains heavy, dense clumping litter. While I like the concept and convenience of the open litter "tote", it doesn't stand up well to continued picking up and moving it by grabbing both handles in one hand and carrying it as it seems to be designed to do. If it contains heavy litter, it cracks. It's just not made of flexible enough plastic to withstand the weight. Disappointing.

I originally got the sifting litterbox (because it's popular), but true to what I was thinking, it's too small, about the size of a dishtub, but not as deep. So, I got this Litter Genie litterbox instead, not only because the size was bigger, but I figured I could at least try dumping the litter into the sifting litterbox and then sifting it, to see how that worked. Well, to my surprise and delight, it works great and I actually don't mind dealing with the litterbox now, something I never expected. It's awkward to have the implements of both systems in my small laundry room, but, hey, at least the ease of cleaning the litterbox means it gets done and so the extra sifting litterbox system in addition to this wonderful Litter Genia litterbox is worth the trouble. I figure I lucked out because I'm getting the best of both worlds ... first, this larger Litter Genie litterbox with the very convenient handles, plus the very convenient sifting method, which is 100x better than scooping. The whole system kinda hinges on the ease of pouring the litter from the Litter Genie litterbox into the sifting litterbox ... and I can tell you that it's easy. Some people mentioned that the pour "spout" eventually cracked from pouring while "squeezing" the two handles together .... but I just lift and "tip" the whole thing into the sifter litterbox with no problem at all and I highly recommend doing it that way, while resting the Genie litterbox on the edge of the sifter litterbox. I've probably got everyone thoroughly confused by now, but trust me, this is a great system because it's so easy. Even without an additional sifter litterbox system on hand, this is a really great litterbox and I highly recommend it!!!

I ordered this litter box because I live in a tiny NYC studio apartment and the box must live in the very tiny bathroom. The old-fashioned, hard-plastic rectangular box could not be tucked away, so I tried this one. When it arrived I was appalled -- it was in a huge box, because it was huge! No way in hell was it going to fit in the 12-inch gap between the tub and the cupboard...except, it did (see photo). And it solved the problem of my onetime outdoor rescue kitty's sitting inside the box and pooping outside it, over the edge! I think the photo on the main product page of the cat sitting in the box is probably a cut-and-paste picture, because the cat looks too big in relation to the box. Check the dimensions before you order. UPDATE: Still love it! The sides being held quite tightly together eventually cracked the "prow," but I had silver packing tape and it's not even noticeable. Not that I would care; I would be willing to buy a new one every year if it came to that...but it doesn't and it won't! The reason for this update, though, is that I never mentioned I use Feline Pine litter and it slides out of there like a fried egg out of a non-stick skillet. A really fine product.

So here’s the deal, don’t put handles on something you don’t want me to pick up by the handles...just sayin’. I love this litter box because it’s huge and open and I have a rag doll cat who spills out of every other smaller litter box and she’s scared of the covered ones so this one is awesome. A lot of reviews talked about how the box cracks right away...we’ll it does IF you lift it by the handles like a suitcase. I didn’t learn this until I had a shoulder surgery. Before the surgery, I used two hands to pick up the litter box by the handles and I never had the box crack. After my shoulder surgery, I had to grab both handles in one hand and carry it like a suitcase and CRACK! The side of the litter box split! “Ok, now I know why the reviews say it cracked”. This litter box is round, and when you pick it up with both handles in one hand, it bends into an oval shape and it will crack on the edges that bend to the oval shape. So now I know to use both hands and not let it bend anymore. Problem solved. As for those who complain that their cat scratched the plastic...I haven’t had any problem with that. It doesn’t gouge any easier than my other plastic one. I have three cats and they all have grim reaper nails, I don’t trim them so all 3 of my litter boxes are scratched. Big deal, I empty the boxes at the beginning of each month, wash with soap and water and this one isn’t anymore scratched up than the others. It’s just par for the course. All in all, extremely grateful to find this big tall litter box (thanks to Jackson Galaxy) cuz my huge rag doll was peeing outside the box even though she was standing INSIDE the box LOL.

Personally, my favorite litter box is the top loading CleverCat box. A few years ago, I had issues with my girl going out of the box. Turns out she needed dental work and was in pain, but in the process I tried to make sifting litter boxes for pine pellet litter out of storage bins. I failed miserably at making those boxes, so we ended up using one of the leftover bins as a litter box (one without my terrible attempt at putting holes in the plastic). My cats loved that bin, but it was a pain to clean. Too many crevices and places for litter to collect. I decided to ditch the bin and try this instead. It’s hard finding a litter box with high sides. My big orange boy stands his butt up when he pees, most boxes with lids are constructed in such a way that the pee goes through the gap between box and lid. (I’m genuinely convinced that 95% of litter boxes and 100% of poop scoops are made by people who don’t have cats.) This box has higher sides than most (although still not high enough to prevent all leaks). I love that it’s flexible, it’s easy to wedge it in tight spaces (like between the toilet and the vanity in my bathroom). I absolutely love that it has handles and I can carry it one handed. I compost the sawdust from the horse bedding litter and it’s incredibly easy to carry to the compost pile and pour out. While some bits will stick to the inside, it doesn’t take much to loosen those up (I use a leaf or a stick to poke it out). Although it is easy to empty, one downside (other than the occasional over-the-sides spraying) is that the flexible sides make it somewhat difficult at times to get solids out. I find myself reinforcing the side with one hand while trying to maneuver the scoop with the other. Another downside is that litter will get kicked out the short side by over enthusiastic diggers. Also, the inside of the box does scratch from cat claws.

Switched to this litter box a few weeks ago and won't be going back. Plenty of space for my cat, odors stay under control, and cleaning is surprisingly quick since nothing sticks to the bottom. Built to last too. Very satisfied!

Very happy with this. We replaced our rectangular generic plastic box with this, and it significantly cut down on tracked litter and the amount of litter that she kicks out of the box. It's also much larger than her previous box, and it's much easier to do a full litter change as well. We have been using it for over a month so far, and no issues with handles breaking like others have mentioned. It's thick enough to withstand scratching and I have had no issues at all with scooping with the curved sides. Overall very happy, if this broke, I would buy another.

The first one was so good i ordered another. I have 4 cats and i use these 2 and a rubbermaid tote. Easy to dump and clean!
