Warning
Hantek 5074FG is a very beautiful and very buggy piece of equipment. It is not yet listed on Hantek's site. Latest firmware is not avail on the site, yet, but Hantek customer service will provide it if you bug them. It appears they don't even have packaging, yet. Mine came in a box for a different model with only a printed white label displaying the correct model number. The screen is beautiful. The resolution and contrast are great. The controls are nice. But there are many things which will make the scope crash. And connecting to a PC via USB can make the scope lock up and become completely unresponsive without a specific tool that does not come with the scope. Beware, do not connect this scope to USB, unless you have updated to the latest firmware 1406160 AND have the software rescue tool on hand. Otherwise your scope could be a brick until you can get customer service from China or find help on a forum.I have found no way to use the arbitrary wave form generator, even in the PC software. even so, the function generator is nice. The logic analyzer seems fairly worthless. But the documentation it comes with is next to none, so maybe I am wrong.I'm still happy with the scope, after the initial headaches. It WILL work if you don't run into the USB issue. There are still some minor bugs in the controls, but everything important (to me) works as advertised. Yes, the scope still crashes SOMETIMES when you make certain adjustments and/or turn on new channels in certain settings. But not always. So it might crash once or twice while doing certain things on a low time-base setting, for instance. Then you have to cycle the power off/on. But once you save your settings, you can go back to them without any issue. This is kinda lame, but the scope works well, otherwise, and it's the cheapest 4 channel scope I can find by a wide margin. Also, the scope triggers off of all 4 channels plus EXT, not just channel 1,2,EXT, like the specs say. And mine came with 4 sets of probes and a BNC patch cable for the function generator.

Amazing!
I'm confused. I wrote to Hantek, the manufacturer, in China. Rose Wang wrote back that, "For overseas customer, we sell 40MHz MSO5054FG. The MSO5074FG is for domestic market (only). Sorry, our domestic direct distributor cannot speak or write English."So then I wrote to the Amazon seller, M&A Instruments, Inc. Andy wrote back, "Recently i do not suggest you to buy MSO5074FG, I have some other models for your review. I attach you the data sheet. They are much better than MSO5074FG."Why does M&A offer these for sale if they don't want to sell them? I think this looks like a great scope; but I will have to stay away until they figure out what they're doing. Too bad.=-=- UPDATE 18AUG14 -=-= This scope appeared for sale, briefly, by TechRecommends and my wife bought one for my birthday. I have to say that I just love it. I have barely scratched the surface, but everything I try appears to work flawlessly. This is an amazing scope. My only concerns so far are fan noise and direct trigger off the logic analyzer. I expect that there will be a new firmware release soon, and I will have to learn the PC interface. In the meantime, I am getting a lot of good, useful work from this device.

NOISEY WAVEFORMS
If you look at the waveforms on the screen, every waveform has more noise than you'll be able to deal with in use. After a serious look at Hantek, I purchased a Rigol 4 channel, 50 MHz model from a NJ company. It is $399, shipped free with a 30 day return. The waveforms on the Rigol show clean like my old 50 MHz Hitachi. The noise together with the bugginess reported by others identifies this as "Not ready for prime time scope." Also, and very important to me, is the USA service offered by the seller, TEquip****. net. I like the looks and some minor features of this new Hantek model, but I'm after performance, not looks. Bugginess, REALY, using something buggy to diagnose something that is buggy?
