6 Classic Albums

This is an incredible collection of Blossom Dearie's work and is basically everything Blossom ever recorded in album form! Yes the 3 disc set comes in a rather run-of-the-mill box with fairly uninspired graphics. AND Yes the double Jewel case design is (and has always been) prone to cracking and breaking. But this set is less than 1/4 what you would pay for all of these albums individually. The sound quality is wonderful. For the record I have 5 of these 6 discs from the Verve releases and the sound on these is comparable. I really can't tell the difference between the recordings and the official releases.THIS IS A CRAZY PRICE FOR THESE RECORDS! When I was building my original Blossom collection I had to get an import of Comden and Green that cost more than this entire set. Stop reading and buy it! You will love relaxing to these records after a long day.I would also recommend picking up  Blossom Time at Ronnie Scott's  which is a live recording of Blossom in her prime, but even that recording is $10.

This covers quite a bit of Blossum Dearie's earlier recordings. She is a charming, personable jazz vocalist and with an usual sound that is "her" sound. She has wonderful phrasing, intonation, articulation and interruption of the lyrics. I have played her for 38 years on my regular jazz radio shows and can say that she is one of two jazz female vocalists that continually elicits the most phone calls of inquiry. You can't go wrong with this musically and for the price! It's great, it's classic, it swings, it's Blossum!

Such a little voice . . . but such a revelation. Here's a feast of six classic Blossom Dearie albums from the Fifties and Sixies. If you're like many people, myself included, you'll fall in love with the great phrasing, personality and charm coming from that "little voice." And at this price, it's a good idea to excuse the minor failures in high-fidelity reproduction coming from that era.

Blossom Dearie is simple a fabulous jazz singer with a voice that can entice you the way no other can. As other reviewers have said the case is a little chinzy, and each disc has more than one album, but the set came with a list of song and name of the album so it is easy to find what you want. The value is excellent. My only regret is that when I was in New York before she passed away, her show was sold out and I was unable to see Blossom Dearie live.

Although this album was really cheap to buy. That is a good point. I would have graded this 3cd set higher, but, there are NO liner notes or anything about Blossom Dearie at all. A Website address that you cannot write and get any kind of response from. Blossom Dearie is an excellent piano player and a soft soothing jazz singer, it was put together with 70 tunes from 1957-1961, 6 origional LP albums. To pick a favorite, is difficult to do when they are all nice to listen to. If you like soft jazz, Yeah, you will enjoy this CD set. Okay, I'm a big Blossom Dearie fan, and have most of these songs on other CD's. BUT - the price was so good I bought this set. The sound is just fine.One thing you should be aware of: This set comes in the cheapest jewel box in the world. Regardless of how well the vendor packs this item, the jewel box will be broken. Just be aware of this. I have also found this with other issues in this series.

The six classic albums by Blossom Dearie are just that -- classic, but the lack of liner notes and the fact that the outer case arrived shattered in four places, as though it has been stomped by an elephant, ruined the impact of the great music. Greater care shoud be taken in the shipping materials used. It's not easy to find a replacement case for a four-CD set.

What a great set. I was skeptical about the audio quality because you get so much (6 albums) on 3 cds. Being a professional in broadcast media, I am very particular about audio quality and think I am pretty good at picking out compression issues. These sound great and at such a great price!

CD came on time was well pleased a pleasure to listen to, lovely voice and so many tracks, unbelievable
