Perfect for my DIY Home Security Set-Up
Bought for use with different brand PTZ cameras that are 5MP that support the Onif protocol. Works great. Set-up was super easy, instructions were clear and easy to follow. Received email from mfg. w link to set-up videos & tech support link for any problems. Have not had a need to use.Recording works perfectly. Some of the features like setting a pattern for the camera to perform repeatedly are only available with the use of specific Amcrest cameras. I don't need this feature. My video is very clear and I have no complaints. Have it connected via HDMI to a RCA 24" LED HD flat Panel tv. Chose to connect a wireless laptop mouse via front USB port so I can access PTZ controls of my cameras from the couch. Have not tried viewing on my PC via network or viewing via phone yet. Will update if I do so at a later date. For my use, it works great and am very pleased.

Great Home Camera System!
System and video quality are exceptional!!! Crystal clear video and picture resolution, NVR itself is not entirely huge and can fit nicely in a closet, low running sound and doesn't seem to overheat, been running straight for 2 weeks and is relatively cool, bought an 8 Channel with 4 cameras and definitely going to be adding more!!!

Be cautious if used with 3rd party cameras
Be cautious if you use 3rd party cameras. Setup can be complex.I have 8 LTS cameras installed by the previous house owner, which I couldn’t and don’t want to replace because they are expensive ones and prewired in the wall. After plugged in the Poe ports, the cameras lighted up, but NVR couldn’t find them. I guess it’s because the NVR’s internal POE switch doesn’t provide Internet connection due to compatibility issues. I then bought a POE switch to solve the problem. This time the cameras did get connected, but still the NVR couldn’t find them even though I tried to manually add the cameras by inputting their IP address. Then I tried to change the ip addresses of the cameras so that they are in the same gateway with the NVR. Now the cameras are added to the NVR, but no image. As the last step, I input the right password for the cameras in the setting. Finally it’s up and running, but camera angles couldn’t be adjusted. To sum up, if you use 3rd party cameras, you may need:1. A POE switch2. Management software for the cameras to find the cameras and change their IP address if need be3. Password for your cameras, which could be tricky if you are not the first owner

Not working for me
No luck getting this unit to work. Such a waste of time to set up and return.I connected the NVR to both VGA and HDMI but never got any signal. Tried different TV and monitor but still nothing.

The technician support for this item is not available.
I don’t understand why they don’t provide technical support for such a crucial item.

How backwards in technology can you go?
So here you have an NVR that supports 4k cameras. But guess what? The ONLY way to set it up out of the box is with a 1280x1024 VGA monitor. Because that's the resolution it's set to work with out of the box. Guess what? I have three 4K TV's around the house, NO VGA inputs, no monitors with VGA, and thus no way to even get this thing configured. I had purchased over six hundred bucks of cameras with this, and now I"m sending them all back because I can't even plug this in and use it to configure it.What kind of company has ANYTHING default to 1280x1024 in the current world, and doesn't support HDMI out of the box? I had planned on replacing a cheap $400 6 camera wireless NVR system with what was going to be a nice upgrade, but even that cheap system was able to be PLUGGED INTO MY TV out of the box so I could actually set it up and get it going. If this company can't even bother making this work on HDMI at initial power on, I'll find another company to give my money to.Edit - before I returned it I hauled it to my office to plug into a monitor, set the resolution, then brought it back home and tried things out. It was adequate, but considering it was replacing a system that cost less than half of this one, and gave me absolutely no improvement, it just seemed not at all worth it so the cameras and the NVR were all returned. I was unable to remove their big AMCREST watermark as well - found a support page about how to do so, but the option they mention wasn't even available on this unit, whether from the webpage, the device interface itself, or the program.
